    PLAY DIRECTOR
    REPORTS TO: Junior-Senior High School Administration
    PAY TYPE: Stipend, Non-Exempt, Extracurricular
    PAY RATE: Located within the WLCSC Master Teacher Contract (see attachment)
    BENEFITS: Not eligible for benefits
    SCHEDULE: Part-time; Seasonal commitment centered around fall and spring productions

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Select age-appropriate, educationally valuable, and inclusive theatrical productions in collaboration with administration
    • Plan, schedule, and lead rehearsals for junior high and high school performances
    • Provide instruction and guidance to student actors and crew members
    • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages student engagement in the performing arts
    • Coordinate with parents and community volunteers for production needs (e.g., costumes, sets, concessions, publicity)
    • Oversee Theatre Club budget, including expense tracking, purchasing, and fundraising activities
    • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support productions and related events
    • Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and administration regarding schedules and expectations
    • Ensure a safe, respectful, and organized environment during all rehearsals and performances
      
    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
    • Education, Training, and Experience Required:
      • Experience directing theatrical productions, particularly with school-age students preferred
      • Previous experience managing extracurricular or student-based programming is beneficial
    • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
      • Strong organizational and leadership abilities
      • Effective verbal and written communication skills
      • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and community members
      • Experience with budgeting and fundraising is highly desirable
      • Demonstrated passion for the performing arts and student development
      • Must pass all background checks and other district criteria

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    • Works primarily during after-school hours, evenings, and weekends in accordance with production schedules
    • May require lifting, moving, or setting up performance equipment and stage props
    • Interacts regularly with students, staff, and volunteers in a fast-paces, dynamic environment
    • Requires flexibility, creativity, and the ability to adapt to changing production needs
