    A Deaf Hard Hearing, and Blind/Low Vision teacher provides services to students with disabilities related to auditory and vision delays that affect their access to and participation in the educational environment. The DHH/BVI teacher shall provide services to children in the school corporation in compliance with the IEPs of the Clinton County Joint Services students and assigned schools.  The DHH/BVI teacher works collaboratively with educational staff, parents, and other professionals to support students’ academic and functional needs. The Clinton County Joint Services Director will supervise and evaluate the DHH/BLV teacher.
    Qualifications:
    1. Experience: Previous experience working with children, particularly in a school or pediatric setting (preferred).
    2. Knowledge of special education laws (e.g., IDEA) and IEP processes.
    3. Strong assessment and problem-solving skills.
    4. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
    5. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Adaptability to work with diverse student needs and conditions.
    6. Familiar with and ability to translate audiograms and eye reports, etiology reports, and other documentation regarding auditory and vision health and development provided by the medical community into action outcomes in the educational setting.
    7. Knowledge and skills regarding auditory oral deaf education and auditory oral habilitation strategies, as well as current instructional methodologies used in the education of the deaf and hard of hearing. Proficient in ASL and SEE.
    8. Knowledge of DHH and BLV equipment, audio/visual integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting (including but not limited to hearing aids, cochlear implants, bahas, and FM and IR Sound Field Systems).
    9. Ability to develop appropriate goals and accommodations within the IEP process to support the school day
    Job Duties:
    1. Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments to determine students’ physical and functional abilities. Develop and interpret individualized education program (IEP) goals related to auditory and vision impairments.
    2. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to integrate therapy into classroom activities and daily routines. Collaborate with school teams (administration, special education staff) to ensure services and provisions are implemented for students with disabilities to maximize the student’s educational access in the general education setting.
    3.  Attend IEP meetings to provide student progress input and recommend accommodations or modifications.
    4. Consultation with students, parents, teachers, and other school personnel as necessary
    5. Adapt curricula, methods, media, and environment to facilitate learning. 
    6. Provide instruction in oral, sign, cued speech, speech reading, auditory, and written language development.
    7. Evaluate students’ abilities using appropriate assessment instruments for the purpose of suspected eligibility, continued eligibility, and for the purpose of ongoing data collection to inform instruction.
    8. Utilize UDL to accommodate different styles and modes of learning and create accessible structures.
    9. Maintain accurate records of assessments,  services, provisions,  and student progress. Prepare reports and ensure compliance with federal and state laws governing special education services.
    10. Monthly documentation and monthly reporting through IIEP
    11. Provide training and support to school staff on adaptive equipment and best practices in working with DHH and BVI students. Educate parents on strategies to support their child’s auditory and vision development.
    12. Recommend and assist in procuring and maintaining adaptive equipment.
    13. Other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Exceptional Needs.
