Job Goal Promote and manage an exemplary sports program at the middle school level.
Qualifications Minimum: 1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. CPR/AED certification.
3. Proven ability to work with students, coaches, administrators, and parents.
4. One year experience coaching in a youth sports program.
5. Such alternatives to the above as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Desired: 1. Two years experience coaching or participating in interscholastic sports program.
2. Advanced study in the area of coaching.
3. State Teaching Certificate or Certification by American Sports Education program
Essential Duties & Performance Responsibilities - Communicates and advises athletic director on all matters related to the team.
- Maintains and takes inventories of all equipment and supplies.
- Attends district in-service as arranged by the Athletic Director.
- Conducts a pre-season team-parent meeting and provides all required information as stated in the athletic manual.
- Promotes the district program and recruits participants at all levels.
- Manages team instruction and player conditioning.
- Assists in development and administration of a continuous off-season conditioning and recruitment program.
- Attends practices and contests.
- Coordinates assistant coaches and other team personnel.
- Encourages student-athletes to maintain academic standards and ensures only eligible athletes compete in contests.
- Manages the team to achieve the goals, objectives, and mission statement of the athletic manual.
- Follows and ensures compliance of the coaches’ code of ethics in the athletic manual.
- Teaches and practices good sportsmanship toward opponents, officials, team members, and spectators.
- Maintains professional growth through attendance of clinics and conferences.
- Will perform other tasks and responsibilities as the building athletic director, superintendent, and/or board may assign.
Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the requirements stated in the athletic manual and with the board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
