The McDonald Local School District Board of Education is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Superintendent. This vacancy is due to the resignation of Mr. Kevin O’Connell effective July 31, 2025.
 
COMMUNITY PROFILE
The McDonald Local School District is located in northeastern Trumbull County. The district encompasses all of the Village of McDonald and a portion of Weathersfield Township.
 
DISTRICT PROFILE
The district is comprised of McDonald High School and Roosevelt Elementary School. McDonald High School is located at 600 Iowa Ave., and Roosevelt Elementary is located at 410 W. Seventh St. The district educates approximately 720 students. District staff include 60 certified members (including teachers, Title I teachers, and administration staff) and 27 classified members (including classified union members, para-professional aids, and administration staff). The McDonald Local School District has been named a 5-Star district by the state of Ohio for both 2023 and 2024.

• Utilizes NEOMIN’s help-desk in fiscal application software by providing resolutions and feedback to NEOMIN member school districts and all other personnel in a timely manner.
• Assists in planning a yearly training schedule for NEOMIN member school districts.
• Assists in planning and testing software upgrades, enhancements, and new fiscal application software in coordination with the Coordinator of Fiscal Application Software, with appropriate NEOMIN Revision Control policy.
• Supports and backs up the Fiscal Application Software Specialist in the performance of his/her duties.
• Trains NEOMIN member school districts in the use and operation of fiscal applications software and reviews training evaluations with the Executive Director.
• Provides day-to-day technical support for fiscal application software for NEOMIN member school districts including problem-resolution, data analysis, and data conversion.
• Participates in the State of Ohio NEOMIN Audit.
• Creates or enhances documentation for NEOMIN member school districts in the use and operation of fiscal application software.
• Attends professional development training and trains appropriate NEOMIN staff.
• Creates or enhances NEOMIN specific documentation and procedures for Management and all appropriate NEOMIN personnel.
• Participates in the fiscal application software user groups and provides feedback to Management.
Additional Responsibilities: 
• Adheres to the NEOMIN Constitution and Service Level Agreement, and NEOMIN policies.

• Ability to create detailed documentation and provide training, both via remote tools and in person, for district fiscal staff as needed.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel functions such as formulas, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Cognos Report Writer for use with eFinance Plus is desired.
• Experience with Ohio school district fiscal software package conversions is desired.

Description:      
• To help student athletes in sports as well as in life. To teach them the sport and to have fun. To teach the athletes the rules and fundamentals of the game. To teach team playing. To have complete records, paperwork, budgets etc.                
NOTE:

Essential Functions:
• Ensure safety of students
• Work within district policies and procedures in the development and maintenance of the interscholastic athletics program
• Responsible for the issuance, care and inventory of equipment, supplies and uniforms
• Ensure the proper conduct and actions of team players at all times
• Issue equipment and keep accurate records of all equipment issued
• Collect all equipment at the end of the season
• Inventory, distribute and procure all equipment
• Attend coaches meetings
• Prepare eligibility lists for the Athletic Director if needed
• Collect all necessary fees from players
• Assist players in the care and prevention of injuries
• Attend rules interpretation meetings
• Prepare outside facilities for all practice sessions
• Schedule, plan and conduct all practice sessions and scrimmages
• Develop and enforce training rules
• Review and evaluate all game films
• Schedule and conduct meetings to discuss future opponents
• Correspond with college and university personnel to assist players in acquiring athletic scholarships
• Communicate with classroom teachers to determine the achievement level of each player
• Participate in awards program by distributing awards to the players
• Evaluate players after each game and at the end of the season
• Attend clinics, camps and seminars
• Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
• Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student athlete grades for eligibility purposes, etc.
• Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
• Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
• Attend meetings and in-services as required 
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assign duties and responsibilities to assistants
• Report the lineups, scoring plays and other pertinent data of each game to the local newspaper and radio
• Forward a list of all participants in the sport, along with all information necessary for the eligibility report, to the Principal’s office
• Assign lockers and oversee the condition of the locker room
• Schedule assistant coach’s meetings
• Instruct players in the proper use of body building equipment, training and nutrition
• Prepare and distribute playbooks to all players
• Organize filming of all games
• Present and discuss films from previous scrimmages
• Attend reserve and other inter-district games
• Instruct and supervise managers in game and practice preparation
• Schedule off-season weight lifting and physical conditioning training
• Schedule fund-raising activities
• Schedule coaching clinics
• Procure and distribute all medical supplies and equipment
• Schedule, record and assist with physical examinations for all players
• Serve as a role model for students
• Interact with Superintendent and/or Board of Education and present information as requested
• Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director 
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university
• Pupil Activity Permit required
• CPR certification
• Sports medicine license
• Alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
• Both Ohio BCI and FBI Background information if applicable.

The Mathews Local School District will pay for new driver training provided that the candidate is able to meet the following conditions:

• Passes all State mandated testing for bus driver certification
• Successful screening interview with the Superintendent and Transportation Supervisor

Driver training includes 15 classroom hours and up-to 30 hours of training with the On Board Instructor in the bus, 2 hours for CDL license testing. In exchange for the district's investment, a commitment of working for the district for a minimum of one school year is expected.

*****    The District will pay wages for the training after the completion of a month of successful service to the district up to 47 hours.
This is a full 5-hour route. The District will also add additional hours in another classification, such as custodial, food service, or educational aide (requires license) for those in need of 8 hours and additional benefits.
Additional field trips and athletic trips are offered at a non-reduced rate. Drivers exceeding 40 hours will receive time and a half rate.
Tremendous opportunities for additional hours. Summer work opportunities in Custodial, at the Custodial pay-rate are available.

POSITION / DUTIES:

• Lifting and Mobility Support: Safely lift, move, or transfer students as needed to support physical activities, classroom positioning, and other mobility needs.
• Feeding Assistance: Support students during meal times, which may include feeding assistance and monitoring dietary restrictions.
• Data Collection: Record and maintain accurate data on student progress, behaviors, and other relevant activities to support individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral goals.
• Classroom and School Support: Perform other duties as assigned, such as preparing classroom materials for the targeted student/s, assisting with lessons, and participating in school activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Available 2024/2025 School Year.
• High school diploma or equivalent (required); additional certification or experience in special education or related field is preferred.
• Ability to lift and move students safely, with training as needed.
• Experience working with children, particularly in a one-on-one or special education setting, is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to lift and move up to [appropriate weight limit, e.g., 50 lbs] regularly.
• Capability to stand, walk, and move throughout the day as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:        
• Assist students with coursework, labs, and hands-on learning activities in various technical fields.

• Assist with clerical duties, including data entry and report compilation.
QUALIFICATIONS:          
• High School diploma with Ohio Educational Aide permit or associate degree. Additional certifications in CTE areas (e.g., safety, mechanical fields) are a plus. High School paraprofessional experience preferred.
• Some mechanical ability and hands-on experience, especially in technical fields like automotive, construction, or manufacturing, is preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA or general shop safety procedures is highly beneficial.
• Ability to work well with students of diverse backgrounds and varying skill levels.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to assist, motivate, and communicate with students effectively.
• Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions, as well as assist students in following technical guidelines.
• Proficiency with technology, including Google Workspace for Education.
