At the present time, a vacancy exists in the Student Services Department for a School Nurse (CSN)
LOCATION: This position is currently eligible for teleworking but must be able to report to and work our of our main school campus located in West Chester (Eastern PA). - Our main campus location is located in West Chester: "An active university town, nestled in the heart of the Brandywine Valley just 30 minutes from Wilmington and 45 minutes from Center City Philadelphia, downtown West Chester Pennsylvania reflects the small-town charm and cosmopolitan tastes that prompted The Philadelphia Inquirer to call West Chester “. one of the world’s most perfect small towns.”
SUMMARY OF POSITION: The School Nurse is responsible for ensuring state mandates are met (PDE, PA School Code) with regard to health screenings, immunizations, maintaining health records, communicating with parents and students regarding any epidemics or other health related information.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Travel throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania may be required during the year to complete mandatory student screenings.
Assist in the preparation and organization of health-related supplies and information for designated students at state standardized testing locations.
Perform mandated school health program services and reporting as required by the Pennsylvania School Health Program, PA School Code, PDE.
Review and monitor student immunization status. Make appropriate referrals to update immunizations when indicated.
Maintain log of student screenings, comprehensive health records for all students, integrity of the confidentiality of the student health records.
Collaborate with agencies within and outside of the school community to ensure continuity of service and care of students.
Interpret the health needs of children to parents, and assist families to utilize community resources to meet their children’s health needs.
Actively participate in programs or activities related to suicide prevention, drug and alcohol abuse prevention and smoking cessation.
Serve as a resource person to facilitate learning of positive health and wellness behaviors for students and staff.
Complete any PA/PDE mandated reporting requirements that may be required of the position.
Develop/coordinate in-service programs for staff on universal health practices and/or other relevant health issues.
Assist in budget preparation by advising school administration in preparing a budget for the health program and facilities, and advise administration on the financial needs for the health services program.
- Provide informal health information to students, parents and staff .
- Complete any other projects/duties as assigned by their immediate supervisor and/or CEO.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience
Current Educational Specialist PDE certificate required
PA licensed professional nurse required
Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required
Experience in education is preferred.
Professional or Other Required Certifications
Current Act 34, 114, 151 clearances
Schedule:
10 Month/ 193 Day
Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm
Telework - Yes (as outlined in the Collective Barganing Agreement)
Salary: Commensurate with experience based on the Collective Barganing Agreement
