    Position Purpose:

     

    The job of a high school CTE teacher is to implement industry-based
    instruction and incorporate all aligned essential standards when preparing to teach and instruct students, to promote student achievement, to provide guidance, counsel, supervision and discipline to students, and to assess and evaluate performance and progress to enhance effective learning. The job of an athletic trainer is to provide and supervise practicum opportunities for students while caring for the athletes during practices and events.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

     

    • Teach students the skills and attitudes to be successful in the various career paths related to Sports Medicine and other strands of Health Science in accordance with state statutes, district policy and adopted curriculum, to help prepare students for lifelong learning and success in the world of work.
    • Foster an educational environment conducive to the learning and maturation process of assigned students; plans and instructional program designed to meet individual student needs and whole groups which may include at risk or special needs youth.
    • Attend or participate in all required staff meetings, committees, team building, field trips and other activities (may include overnight stay) deemed necessary by the district, building administration, in order to accomplish the objectives of the position and for professional achievement.
    • Perform related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, Building Principal, or Superintendent.
    • In conjunction with school district personnel, develop the athletic trainer program for the school.
    • Provide athletic trainer coverage at home and away interscholastic athletic events.
    • Establish a working relationship with community physicians and school nursing staff.
    • Maintain adequate records on all injuries and rehabilitative procedures
    • Interact with coaches, parents, medical staff and athletes.
    • In conjunction with the school district, establish hours of operation for athletic training.
    • Demonstrates a clear knowledge and understanding of physical therapy treatment techniques.
    • Demonstrates self-motivation and professional integrity. Uses work time appropriately to meet program goals.
    • Demonstrates good judgment and independent problem-solving skills in a variety of student related and staff situations. Provides potential solutions along with identifying problems.
    • Demonstrates consistent quality of care and professional expertise in all interactions with school staff, students and families.
    • Maintains a high level of professional expertise and assumes responsibility for professional growth and development.
    • Conduct educational forums for the community related to injury prevention and conditioning.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Currently have or will have received by the start date a valid Wyoming CTE Teaching Certificate or PIC permit with the appropriate endorsement(s) for grades 9-12, required.
    • Currently hold Certified Athletic Trainer Certification, PIC license or able to obtain PIC license through Wyoming PTSB.
    • Must hold Wyoming State Certified Athletic Training license.
    • Currently hold or will hold a Master’ Degree.
    • Being a First Aid/CPR Certified Trainer is preferred.

    WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

     

    The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:
    • Ability to regularly walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull.
    • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

    Equipment
    Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

    Travel Requirements
    Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
