Salary Range: $44,929 - $102,918
Salary placement is based on education and experience as indicated in Teacher's Collectively Bargained Agreement.
Job Summary
The Middle School Alternative Program Teacher provides personalized, standards-based instruction to students in an alternative setting, supporting both academic growth and social-emotional development. This role includes teaching CLP Approaches and core subject areas, using a variety of instructional strategies tailored to individual student needs. The teacher collaborates with families, staff, and support teams to create a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment. Responsibilities include assessing student progress, managing records, implementing district curriculum, and contributing to a team approach in addressing student learning plans.
Job Functions
Instruction & Support
Teach CLP approaches and cores subject area standards for middle- level students
Provide individualized and small- group instruction to support academic growth in core content areas
Adapt instructional strategies and materials to meet diverse learning needs and student interests.
Develop course objectives and lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and student learning plans
Implement district curriculum and use varied instructional approaches to promote student engagement
Administer and analyze standardized, formative, and state assessments to guide instruction and social emotional support
Provide guidance and support for students facing academic, social-emotional, or adjustment challenges
Foster a supportive, inclusive, and equitable classroom environment that promotes student success
Collaboration & Communication
Collaborate with families, counselors, administrators, and colleagues to support students’ academic and social-emotional needs.
Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress and development
Participate in collaborative team meetings to monitor individual student progress and adjust supports
Professional Responsibilities
Attend professional learning sessions, staff meetings, and development workshops to enhance practice.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional boundaries with students, families and staff
Demonstrate reliable attendance and comply with program and district policies and procedures
Align practice with the district mission, vision, values, and strategic plan
Perform other duties and assigned

Appropriate Minnesota teaching licensure- able to teach secondary students

Ability to understand and follow data privacy rules and regulations related to students
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision.
