Effective immediately, South St. Paul Schools is hiring for an Extended School Year (ESY) Special Education Teacher. 
 
• ESY runs from July 7-24; Monday through Thursday (12 days)
• Hours are based on program placement. 
  • ECSE Licensed Staff Hours: 8:45-11:15 a.m. 
  • Elementary Licensed Staff Hours: 8:30-1:00 p.m. 
  • Secondary Licensed Staff Hours: 7:45-12:15 p.m. (Self-contained and middle school resource) or 7:45-1:15 pm (high school resource) 
• Teachers will be paid an additional 2 hours for training on June 26 from 8:00-10:00 a.m. and will have 8 additional hours for planning and preparation. The rate of pay for this position is $31.50/hour.

Specific job duties include:
• Review and target instruction to meet identified needs and IEP goals. 
• Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
• Collect and progress monitor students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Complete progress reports for assigned students.
• Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students.
• Partner with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to support students' academic and social-emotional development.
• Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.

• Assist in activities of daily living and self-care as assigned. Self-Care activities may include but are not limited to: toileting, dressing, eating.
• Provide Special Transportation Supports, as assigned.
  • Assist students off the bus and into their first class of the day as needed.
  • Accompany special education students on bus routes as required in the student’s IEP. As assigned, ride the bus and supervise students as they enter and leave the bus, monitor for behavioral or physical needs to ensure student safety.
• Follow Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Behavior Support Plans (BSP) as directed by the special education teacher.
• Assist students to be safe and socially appropriate on the playground or recess activities, and across school settings.
• Assist in regularly monitoring student progress using collection techniques developed by directed the special education teacher.
• Perform accurate and timely reporting of services and progress for student’s IEP, Third Party Billing records, report cards, progress notes and/or conferences as directed by the special education teacher.
• Participate in all required training as requested.
• Adhere to staff and program guidelines and district procedures and policies.

Location:  TriDistrict Partner Site
 
• Per Tri-District: 9-12 Math (or Equivalent) required, or ability/willingness to pursue
• Work collaboratively with a TriDistrict Computer Science teacher colleague to co-develop and co-teach an interdisciplinary Computer Science/IT course.  This position’s primary responsibility is for assuring the contextual implementation of a Mathematics course, specifically Probability &  Statistics or a similar course.  

• Work with content area and non-content area colleagues (Computer Science/Math/Business teachers in home and TriDistrict schools), along with community and business partners, to develop a career-readiness based curriculum that melds high school coursework with workforce demands.

• Along with their teaching partner, refine and implement the TriDistrict professional skills curriculum.

• Along with their teaching partner, and in collaboration and cooperation with business partners, create and implement Project Based Learning activities aimed at solving authentic business partner projects.

• Along with their teaching partner and with the support of the TriDistrict CAPS Director, develop a calendar of career and college readiness activities (speakers/presenters, field trips, site visits, etc.)

• Assist with the development, as well as implementation and oversight of immersive, authentic learning experiences (internship, mentorship, job-shadowing, service learning) for students in the program

• Assist with the ongoing maintenance and development of relationships with current and future business and community partners to serve as guest speakers, site visit locations, project partners, and internship sites.  This is primarily 2nd semester as part of internship site check-ins, which occur biweekly at minimum.

• Participate in summer curriculum development and professional learning for curriculum/course development. 

• Collaborate and communicate with TriDistrict staff, administration, the TriDistrict CAPS coordinator and others to support, promote and develop all TriDistrict CAPS Programs, the Computer Science/IT Program in particular.

• Maintain communication and positive relationships with course host site 
 

Other Job Requirements:
 
This course is currently taught at Two Rivers High School.  However, it may be taught off-site at a TriDistrict business partner site, 5 days per week in the fall semester, and up to 2 days per week in the spring semester.  The successful candidate must be able to be on site for all class periods. In the spring semester, it may be necessary for the teacher to visit student internship sites.  Mileage will be reimbursed at the established federal rate.
