    Early Learning Program Assistant Teacher for 2025-2026 School Year 

    St. Mary School is a parish supported Catholic school educating the next generation of innovative thinkers and ethical leaders in Grays Harbor and beyond.     St. Mary School, located in Aberdeen, WA, is expanding and licensing its Early Learning Program (ELP) and is seeking a full time Early Learning Program Assistant Teacher.  This position seeks candidates with experience teaching at the preschool, PreKindergarten, and/or elementary level.  Knowledge and/or experience with WA State Child Care License regulations is also desired.

    The position officially begins with the opening of the academic school year 2025-2026 and is benefit eligible.  Application deadline is April 18, 2025.


    The successful candidate:
     
    • Is willing to partner with a vibrant, energetic community of teachers who work collaboratively for the sake of all students in the school.

    • Assists in creating a warm, well-managed, organized and supportive classroom environment that engages all preschool and PreKindergarten students as learners.

    • Collaboratively works to create and teach developmentally appropriate units and lesson plans that engage all early learning students in activities and play that stimulate their development. 

    • Uses a variety of instructional strategies, assessments and technologies to meet the diverse needs of each student.

                        
    • Is an energetic, compassionate, collaborative ELP Assistant Teacher who will help ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day classroom activities, ensure government regulations are being met, and put student and staff safety first

    • Is willing to work in partnership and collaboration with Instructional Aides, parents, and the DCYF local licensing agents 

    • Will help ELP staff nurture children’s social, spiritual, & academic development while fostering a Catholic environment of mutual respect and appreciation. 

    • Will ensure the safety & well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs. 

    • Will assist in overseeing that the environment is clean, organized, and safe for all children as well as ensure site supplies & equipment are maintained. 

    • Will understand that all responsibilities are to be in line with the Catholic mission of the parish and school and the state licensing regulations. 

     
    • Is faith-filled and is committed to the mission and ministry of Catholic education and uses the teachings of Christ in creating a supportive environment for children and families.

    • Can effectively communicate with an active parent community.

    • Is willing to add value to the school community using their gifts and talents outside the classroom

    • Has a desire to continue professional development

     

    The ELP Assistant Teacher reports directly to the ELP Director/Lead Teacher and works collaboratively with the Principal when needed. 

    The ideal candidate will:

                        
    • Preferably hold at least 47 Early Childhood Education credits (State Certificate) 

    • Have two + years ECE or primary classroom experience and/or experience working in a licensed early learning center and be familiar with MERIT

    • Have a full understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and the ability to perform the job responsibilities of this position.

    • Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of young children and possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences. 

    • Be a great problem solver who can think on their feet and have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities. 

    • Be well organized and detail-oriented

    • Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 50lbs. 

    • Be able to pass a background check in MERIT & VIRTUS. 

    • Be CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or be able to obtain certification upon hire. 

    • Be able to complete WA State’s Child Care Basics Program (to be completed within 90 days of hire) and maintain 10-hours annual in-service training. 

    • Show proof of MMR immunization & Tuberculosis test. 

    • Catholic candidate preferred

                        
     
     

    St. Mary School offers a competitive salary and full benefits package.

    Salary Range: $30,500 - $40,500 

    Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.

    Benefits: A comprehensive package of benefits is offered including two medical plan options, dental, vision, life, accidental death and disability, long term disability, pension, 403(b), HSA, FSA, and generous sick leave, vacation, and holidays.
