    St John Preschool is a licensed program serving students ages 3-5. It consists of 4 classrooms, each staffed with a full-time teacher and instructional assistant. Ideal candidates will have a minimum two years’ experience working with preschool age children, preferably in a school environment, and be a practicing Catholic. The position follows a  Monday-Friday schedule from 8:00 AM-3:15 PM. 
    Salary and Benefits: Range: $25.74-$27.93 hourly. Any offered salary rate is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
    Benefits: Eligible if 30+ hours a week A comprehensive package of benefits is offered including two medical plan options, dental, vision, life, accidental death and disability, long term disability, pension, 403(b), HSA, FSA, and generous sick leave, vacation, and holidays.

    Preschool Instructional Assistant; job description

Ideal candidates will have a minimum two years’ experience working with preschool age children, preferably in a school environment, and be a practicing Catholic. The schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-3:15 PM.
     

    Preschool Mission Statement:

    The mission of the St. John Preschool is to lay the foundation for lifelong learning by fostering an environment where children can flourish academically, spiritually, and emotionally.
    Through age-appropriate, hands-on experiences, we help students develop social-emotional skills, form strong social connections and build foundational academic competencies. As part of a vibrant Catholic community, we encourage students to be inclusive, act with kindness, and serve others.
     

    Educational Philosophy:

    St. John Preschool believes each child is a unique gift of God, created with purpose and potential. By honoring the individuality of every learner, we cultivate a warm and supportive atmosphere where children thrive in confidence, curiosity, and character. Through a balanced approach of whole-group instruction, personalized one-on-one support, and child-directed play and exploration, we equip students with the foundation for lifelong learning, service and future academic success.
     

    Requirements - preferred upon hire, must be obtained within 30 days of hiring

     
    • Complete Child Care Basics, to be completed within 90 days of hire
    • Maintain 10-hour annual in-service
    • Must pass MERIT Background check
    • Must pass MERIT Fingerprinting check
    • Complete CPR and First Aid
    • Complete food handlers permit
    • Safe Environment Check
    • Maintain Washington State Department of Early Learning licensing requirements
    • Complete Blood Borne Pathogens
    • Show Proof of MMR Vaccine and TB test
      

    Duties include (but aren’t limited to):

     
    • Assist and work collaboratively with other preschool staff
    • Prepare materials, projects, assignments
    • Facilitate small groups/centers
     
    • Maintain student/staff ratio at all times
    • Work with students who have a diverse set of needs and learning styles
    • Help maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment
    • Assist the teacher with the children and daily routines
    • Supervise students in various locations, including outdoor recess, specialists, field trips, snack/lunch time and rest period
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, kneel and sit on the floor, and be active with children.
    • Close out the school day and prepare the classroom for the morning
    • Greet students and families at start/end of day
    • Help facilitate attendance in accordance with licensing and school regulations
    • Model and encourage social, emotional skills and regulation
    • Maintain confidentiality at all times

    Compensation and Benefits Hourly Range: $25.74-$ 27.93
