PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Elementary Instructional Coach is a multi-disciplinary position that works with administrators, classroom teachers and central office staff to provide support to all aspects of teaching and learning on their assigned campus. Roles include planning with PLCs, providing campus and district professional development, modeling/co-teaching, and working with teachers in coaching cycles to refine student centered teaching and learning through the application of effective research based instructional practices.
*If the position is for a Title I Instructional Coaching position, the continuation of this position is contingent upon the award and availability of Title I Funds.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification Requirements: - Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years teaching experience
- Valid EC-6 Texas teaching certificate for grade level assigned
- Previous Instructional Coaching experience preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 1. Understand how the principles of adult learning theories affect professional learning.
2. Initiate collegiality and work cooperatively with others in a Professional Learning Community (Campus/District).
3. Support teachers and administrators in disaggregating campus data to determine trends and targeted areas for improvement.
4. Use data to inform student centered coaching cycles.
5. Provide on-site professional learning based on district and campus initiatives.
6. Collaborate with grade-level teams to support delivery of district curriculum and assessments.
7. Identify individual needs of teachers and students and align coaching support to improve instruction and student learning.
8. Model best teaching practices.
9. Provide guidance for teachers in working with students experiencing academic difficulties.
10. Assist with planning, goal setting, and monitoring of response to intervention.
11. Participate in position-related professional development.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
