  •   JOB TITLE:           Student Technical Operator                                         WAGES/HOUR STATUS:  Nonexempt
      REPORTS TO:      Campus Theatre Director                                           Pay: Per Event 
      DEPT/ SCHOOL:   High School / Fine Arts Dept.                                    DAYS/DATES: 193 (2022-2023 School Year) 
     
     
    Primary Purpose:
     
    Responsible for the set-up and technical operations for events held at the High School Auditorium or Black Box Theatre.
     
    Qualifications:
     
    Must be a SCUC ISD active High School student.
    Must be at least 16 years of age.
    Ability to hang lighting instruments, focus, and set lighting levels for the stage.
    Ability to program cues, patch, and operate the light board.
    Ability to set up sound equipment and operate sound system.
     
    Major Responsibilities and Duties:
    (The following statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions that may be assigned or skills that may be required.)
     
    1. Hook up microphones and patch microphone lines into the soundboard channels.
    2. Operate the soundboard including leveling and recording of the concerts and performances.
    3. Set up rigging and backstage duties to include, but not limited to: fly rail operations, curtain manipulating, backstage lights, sound operations, and stage management.
    4. Assist handicapped patrons.
    5. Monitor food and beverages brought into the Auditorium or Black Box.
    6. Assist with emergency procedures including evacuation and medical emergencies.
    7. Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance.
    8. Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
     
    Equipment Used
     
    Basic Office equipment – personal computer, stage lighting, stage sound equipment, basic office equipment.
     
    Working Conditions:
     
    Mental Demands:
    Ability to communicate (verbal and written), instruct, read, understand verbal instructions, and maintain emotional control under stress and work with frequent interruptions.
     
    Physical Demands:
    Frequent: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs and/or ramps, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and distinguishing colors.  Occasional:  Lifting, up to 25 pounds.
     
    Environmental Factors:
    Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, vibration.
