    Office Paraprofessional - Sheridan High School

    Sheridan County School District No. 2 is looking for a positive, professional, and motivated Paraprofessional to join the Sheridan High School team.

     

    BENEFITS:  Wyoming State Retirement Pension Program, Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, Aflac, Life Insurance, Flexshare Plans, Paid Personal (2 days annually) and Sick Leave (10 days annually). 

    SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day, 176 days per school year. Days off coincide with the school calendar including Christmas, Spring and Summer breaks off.

    STARTING WAGE:  $14.47-$17.47 depending on experience ($1.00 increase for BA/BS).

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     
    1. High School graduate or equivalent.
    2. Good command of the English language.
    3. Ability to work well with students and staff.
    4. Working knowledge and competence in reading, math, English, and related academic subjects.
    5. Typing and computer skills preferred.
     

    REPORTS TO: Building principal and/or classroom teacher

     

    JOB GOAL: To provide enthusiasm, professionalism, efficiency, and support to students, staff, and parents.

     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

     
    1. Welcome students and visitors, determine the nature of their business, and direct visitors and students to appropriate personnel and staff members.
    2. Monitor visitor access and issue passes when required.
    3. Receive and input payment for student accounts and balances cash drawer daily.
    4. Operate multi-line telephone system to answer incoming calls; answer questions when necessary, direct callers to appropriate staff members.
    5. Perform other clerical duties such as filing, and assist secretarial staff with daily office functions.
    6. Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
    7. Gather and analyze information to develop alternative solutions.
    8. Work in teams to solve problems.
    9. Maintain confidentiality and respond promptly to student, parent, and staff requests for assistance.
    10. Apply common sense to carry out detailed, written, or oral instructions.
    11. Look for ways to improve and promote quality.
    12. Apply feedback to improve performance and monitor work to ensure quality.
    13. Follow policies and procedures, complete tasks correctly and on time, and support school district’s goals and values.
    14. Present a positive attitude, approach others in a tactful manner, react well under pressure, and treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information concerning school matters.
     

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment relationship with the District is at will and of indefinite duration. Salary and fringe benefits to be set by the Board of Trustees.

    Placement on any of the Classified (Hourly) Wage Schedules for all new employees will be based solely on an individual’s years of job-related experience:

     
    • School district experience (full time) = One (1) year of job-related experience equals one (1) step on the wage schedule, up to step seven (7)
    • School district experience (substitute) & non-school district experience = three (3) years of job-related experience equals one (1) step on the wage schedule, up to step seven (7)
     

    *placement beyond step seven (7) requires approval from the Superintendent

     

    Upon board approval, eligible staff move one (1) step on the wage schedule annually, except in those years when the Board of Trustees sets a wage freeze due to budget constraints.

     

    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
