SCSD2 is seeking a positive, professional and dedicated Reading Recovery and Special Education Teacher to join the SCSD2 team for the 2025/2026 school year. This position will serve all elementary schools based on student needs.

READING RECOVERY TEACHER (0.5 FTE)

REPORTS TO:    School Principal
 
JOB GOAL:    To remediate reading difficulties in students so they may function to the best of their ability in the regular classroom.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1. Teaches readers selected to receive Reading Recovery.
2. Provides in-depth diagnostic reading evaluations and structures programs of remediation for Reading Recovery students.
3. Assesses potential Reading Recovery students using Observation Survey of Early Literacy Achievement.
4. Assesses and works closely with each student so as to teach him/her more effectively and to evaluate his/her progress more accurately.
5. Maintains a healthy, positive climate for learning with Reading Recovery Children in the Reading area, taking special care to assist the students to develop reading scaffolding skills.
6. Maintains good discipline and a cooperative atmosphere, while helping students to develop self-direction and self-control.
7. Assists students in understanding learning objectives.
8. Provides opportunities for application of reading skills.
9. Cooperates with all others assigned to work with the students and strives for direct interaction between the classroom teacher and Reading Recovery teachers.
10. Assists in selecting reading placement for students, when appropriate.
11. Evaluates and selects special materials and equipment for reading.
12. Develops materials to support the Reading Recovery program.
13. Provides consulting services to administrative and instructional personnel regarding special reading problems.
14. Confers with parents concerning students’ special reading problems.
15. Keeps abreast of developments in reading and Reading Recovery education through professional reading and study and participation in professional activities.
16. Complies with any reasonable oral or written directive of the appropriate administrator.
 

SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER (0.5 FTE)
 
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and/or Special Services Director
 
SUPERVISES: Assigned paraprofessionals
 
JOB GOAL: To provide specially designed instruction and appropriate education to students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment based on team decisions.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
1. Creates a safe, productive, and positive learning environment that is the least restrictive, is conducive to learning, and appropriate to the maturity and interest of students.
2. Serves as the Case Manager for assigned students including, but not limited to, completing IDEA Program forms; sending written notices to parents; and completing all paperwork that is required either by the building principal and/or the Special Services Director.
3. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of goals and objectives listed on student IEP’s and conducts instruction for growth in general education based on individual student needs.
4. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for increasing student progress, and on goals and objectives; monitors student progress regularly and collaborates with district specialists as needed.
5. Assumes the teacher’s legal responsibilities in the supervision of students.
6. Assumes an equitable share of responsibility associated with the teaching profession which may be assigned by the principal or Special Services Director, and which may relate to committee work, student supervision or other planning and professional assignments.

SCSD2 is seeking motivated individuals to work in a full-time, temporary position starting as early as May 1, 2025, through the summer months. This position will work 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.   
 
HOURLY WAGE:  $14.00
 
QUALIFICATIONS:    
 
1. Must be 18 years of age or older.
2. Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
3. Must demonstrate ability to operate and maintain lawn mowing equipment.
4. Ability to work independently and in small groups.
5. Must be able to read and understand the English language as it relates to chemical labels and safety instructions.
6. Able to lift upwards of 50 pounds and bend, lift, and stand for extended periods.         
 REPORTS TO: Assigned supervisor
 
JOB GOAL:  To perform basic landscaping and grounds responsibilities such as planting, mowing, pulling weeds, and maintaining the outside appearance of district buildings. 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Mow lawns and collect any trash, rubbish, and waste.
2. Apply pesticide to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitos, wasps, and ticks.
3. Sweep and blow off debris from walkways.
4. Cut down tree limbs that are overgrown or pose a danger.
5. Notify the repair coordinator of equipment that needs fixed.
6. Edge, rake, mulch, and prune as needed.
7. May drive a truck (sometimes with a trailer) to various district locations, ensuring proper storage of equipment during transport.
8. Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
9. Follow all district safety procedures. Report all accidents/incidents immediately to the supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Upper body strength to lift up to 40 pounds and carry more than 50 feet throughout the workday and lift 75 pounds to waist height.
2. Lower body strength to stand and walk throughout the day or to sit throughout the day.
3. Ability to work at heights in excess of 10 feet from ladders, catwalks, roof tops, etc.
4. Ability to use proper PPE when working around or when in contact with items that affect senses (i.e. – chemicals, loud equipment).
5. Need to be adaptable to varying temperatures and climates encountered outdoors.
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  This position is a temporary, seasonal position for the summer.  Employment cannot exceed six months.

1. Keep buildings and grounds including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times. Shovel plow and sand walks, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.
2. Scrub and disinfect toilet floors daily, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
3. Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and a good state of preservation.
4. Removal of graffiti and defacing marks will be an ongoing daily requirement.
5. Clean all chalkboards and rails, window ledges, and dust fixed furniture daily.
6. Wash windows on both the inside and outside at least once a year and more frequently if necessary.
7. Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
8. Make minor building repairs within capability levels.
9. Report major repairs needed promptly to the Head Custodian.
10. Conduct an ongoing program of general maintenance.
11. Keep an inventory of supplies and requisition as needed from the Head Custodian so they may be delivered in such time to not hinder the performance of custodial duties.
12. Report immediately to the Head Custodian or Principal any damage to school property.
13. Remain on the school premises during working hours, except in the event of an emergency, and in such an event shall notify the principal immediately (after hours notify Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds) before leaving the building. 
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
 
1. Upper body strength to lift 40 pounds and carry more than 50 feet or up three flights of stairs throughout the workday.

As a substitute teacher you have control of your schedule - you can pick the days, times (half or full day), school and subject area of the job you choose to work! The daily rate of pay for substittue teachers is based on an individuals level of certification and past teaching experience, as noted below.

• Wyoming Substitute License:  $151/day 
• Wyoming Teaching License: $158/day 
• Retired Teacher (Non-SCSD2): $161/day

Work Day Incentives:

Complete the Effective Substitute Teaching class (EDCI 1005). This course is offered through Sheridan College at the Johnson County Campus in Buffalo, Wyoming. The requirements for the course, syllabi, and sample schedule are listed below. This is a two-week course offered every fall and spring semester. Tuition for this course is $238 and requires an additional $100 fee payable to PTSB for the application and fingerprint fees. By the time you have completed the class, you will have met the requirements for the 24 hours of in-service training and 30 hours of classroom observation.
