    Rotating School Bus Drivers Needed!

    SCSD#2 is seeking positive, safety-conscious Bus Drivers to fill morning and afternoon routes, week day field trips and weekend activity travel as needed!

    NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! SCSD2 will provide paid training for successful candidates to obtain a CDL and required endorsements. SCSD2 is also offering a $500 sign-on bonus to candidates that complete 6 months of employment (half will be paid after 3 months of employment).

     

    This is a part-time position, working Monday through Friday for 20 hrs/week, with opportunities for additional hours taking students on week day field trips, or on weekend trips for school sponsored activities.

     

    STARTING WAGE:  $17.55 - $20.55 per hour, depending on prior driving experience.

    BENEFITS: Time off matches the school calendar including holidays, spring and summer breaks. Paid personal and sick leave, paid wait time on all trips, supplemental insurance through Aflac.

    QUALIFICATIONS:    

     
    1. Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and pre-employment drug screen (FMCSR 49 CFR 391.41 Physical Qualifications for Drivers).
    2. Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
    3. Ability to obtain a CDL with a P, S, and Air Brake endorsement within one month of hire.        
     

    REPORTS TO: Transportation Director

    JOB GOAL: To transport students in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner.      

     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

     
    1. Transport authorized students following assigned route schedules.
    2. Obey all traffic laws and safely operate a school bus.
    3. Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
    4. Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
    5. Keep the assigned bus clean.
    6. Check the bus before each operation for mechanical defects and report any problems to the proper authority.
    7. Inspect the daily route schedule; follow planned routes and time schedule.
    8. Complete any necessary paperwork promptly and accurately.
    9. Report all accidents to the supervisor.
    10. Perform other duties as assigned.
     

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment relationship with the District is at will and of indefinite duration. Salary and fringe benefits to be set by the Board of Trustees.

    *Half of the sign-on bonus will be paid after 3 months of driving, and the other half after another 3 months of driving.

     

    Placement on any of the Classified (Hourly) Wage Schedules for all new employees will be based solely on an individual’s years of job-related experience:

     
    • School district experience (full time) = One (1) year of job-related experience equals one (1) step on the wage schedule, up to step seven (7)
    • School district experience (substitute) & non-school district experience = three (3) years of job-related experience equals one (1) step on the wage schedule, up to step seven (7)
     

    *placement beyond step seven (7) requires approval from the Superintendent

     

    Upon board approval, eligible staff move one (1) step on the wage schedule annually, except in those years when the Board of Trustees sets a wage freeze due to budget constraints.

     

    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
