DEFINITION
The Director of Data, Assessment, and Accountability oversees the district’s Student Data team and collaborates closely with cross functional teams to ensure that student outcome data is transformed into high-quality, actionable analytics that support district and school leadership in making decisions that drive student learning. The Director develops and implements a vision that spans the entire data generation process, starting with intake and continuing through cleaning, research design, analysis, inference, and presentation of findings.
**The Director must demonstrate a willingness to sign and adhere to strict confidentiality agreements. This role requires maintaining the highest level of confidentiality regarding all District matters, given the levels of access to student information and other sensitive data.**
The Director works with District instructional leaders and educators in the coordination of district and state assessments, as well as a range of performance and accountability measures to analyze, interpret and present education data to various audiences to support the District’s mission in ensuring that every student develops the enduring knowledge, skills and character to thrive in a changing world.

Trains and supervises the district’s Student Data Coordinator and Student Records Specialist
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ROLE-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
Student Data Team Leadership and Coordination
Leads the Student Data Team to set a clear vision, direction, and priorities aligned to the district’s Strategic Plan.
Coaches and leverages strengths of the team to drive established priorities forward.
District Assessment Coordination
Serves as the District Assessment Coordinator (DAC) to provide oversight for all state assessments and act as the liaison with the Colorado Department of Education
Coordinate and manage the test administration logistics and processes for all state-required assessments including ordering, distribution, administration troubleshooting, check-in, and packaging/shipping.
Develop, implement, and update processes and procedures to ensure security for all state-required assessment materials and resources and integrity of data collection
Implement mandated processes for applying appropriate testing accommodations for students with disabilities and support training of accommodation documentation in relevant data systems. Coordinate with Special Education and CLDE departments as needed.
Manage the development of training materials and provide training presentations for assessment administration and assessment security processes and procedures.
Coordinates with school assessment coordinators in training and conducting district and state assessments.
Work with identified schools to monitor academic progress through seasonal analysis of interim assessments and evaluation against school targets and objectives.
Advise and coach school leadership and school assessment coordinators on policies and procedures for state and interim assessments
Support schools in completing all assessment-related data collections.
Serves as data respondent for state assessments
Identifies strengths and challenges across the district and within schools based on student achievement data; presents findings with relevant teams after each major assessment round.
Creates tools, reports, and training materials for school leaders and teachers that empower data-driven decisions.
Participates in the conceptualization, design and implementation of large and small-scale research and evaluation studies; perform statistical analysis of the resulting data.
Helps ensure data privacy and FERPA compliance.
Coordinates and serves as a knowledgeable resource for high school graduation requirements, including data and processes management
Coordinates required services for incarcerated students
State/Local Reporting and Student Data Warehouses
Performs a variety of complex data retrieval duties related to the compilation and preparation of federal, state or district reports.
Creates and manages common expectations and repositories for data management.
Collaborates with the technology team to create systems and processes to ensure seamless data information flow.
Develops and distributes assessment reports and provides interpretations for use in accountability, school improvement, unified improvement plans related educational initiatives to improve student achievement.
Serves as accountability contact for Colorado Department of Education
Owns and oversees accurate and timely state reporting, including but not limited to CMAS SBD, graduation guidelines, PSAT SBD, DLM SBD
Responds to external stakeholders and/or partnerships by providing student data to support extended learning opportunities. Maintain data sharing agreements with organizational partners
Manage research request process and act as district’s in-house research reviewer in collaboration with Chief Academic Officer
Reviews, collaborates on, and submits AEC renewal application
District / School Training and Support
Strategic Planning and Performance Management--this includes managing and updating school and district performance dashboards and reports.
Trains and support leaders and teachers in student information systems, data warehouses and management tools such as eduClimber and Infinite Campus
Supports school leaders and teachers in being active consumers of data analyses and tools.
Provide data analysis and reporting for program evaluations and grant reports.
Works closely with the Chief Academic Officer and Superintendent in providing relevant and timely data for presentations.
Provides direct support with CORA requests, including necessary redactions and preparation of records.
Talent Data Analysis
Other Duties
Ensures adherence to district and board policies regarding the Student Data Transparency Act and other elements related to data privacy
Prepares Board of Education reports and presents at board meetings as needed, in collaboration with Chief Academic Officer
Serves as a member of the district Achievement, Culture, & Equity for Students (ACES) Team, and collaborates productively and effectively with other cross-functional teams
Oversees the Student Data Team. Practices and demonstrates leadership, coaching and development, strategic vision and planning.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Advanced knowledge of district and Colorado state assessments
Advanced knowledge of research methods and statistics.
Advanced knowledge in the manipulation of data to provide charts, graphs, and reports
Advanced knowledge of data integrity methods and techniques
Demonstrated effective public speaking and presentation techniques
Formal English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite including Excel, and experience with statistical software
Principles and procedures of record keeping
Principles of business and letter writing and report preparation
Ability to:
Exercise strong analytical and quantitative skills with demonstrated ability to convert raw data into meaningful analyses and recommendations at a level appropriate to a range of audiences
Prepare clear and concise statistical reports for a variety of audiences
Work with administrators and teachers to make data comprehensible
Program, configure, manage, and maintain the operation of complex relational databases
Develop and manipulate large, complex data sets
Work effectively independently in the absence of frequent supervision
Maintain confidential records and reports
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Collaborate effectively and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with various stakeholders, including executives, direct reports, school leaders, teachers, vendors, and external community partnerships
EXPERIENCE & TRAINING GUIDELINES
Experience:
Three years responsible database management experience.
Direct experience or deep familiarity with schools and school systems.
Candidates with current or recent school-based experience with demonstrated success assessment coordination, with current or recent direct assessment coordination experience.
Experience with ACCESS, Accuplacer, ACTWorkKeys, DIBELS, Lectura, NWEA, eduClimber, Infinite Campus, College Board, TS Gold, KITE/DLM, Panorama Education, ACTPortal, and various gifted education screeners
Training:
Equivalent to the completion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, information systems or a related field.
Master’s degree in related field preferred

Physical Conditions:
Primary functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of times; use of computer keyboard; light lifting and carrying.

252 days/year (with paid leave, and district non-work days such as during winter and spring breaks)
SALARY RANGE
$102,442.89 to $126,898.10 **Based on education and years of relevant experience
**Annual salary noted above is based on an 8 hour day (FTE 1) and full days worked calendar. Any position that is less than a full FTE/8 hours per day or late start will be prorated accordingly.
