Reports to: Basalt Middle School Principal
Classification: Certified Exempt - Full-Time (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week)
Contract Period: 185 working days.
Salary Range: *$54,000 to $82,320 (Based on *licensing, education and years of relevant teaching experience) Certified Salary Schedule
*The annual salary listed above is based on a full-time, 8-hour workday (FTE 1) and a full working calendar. For positions with less than a full FTE or reduced hours, such as part-time or late-start positions, the salary will be prorated accordingly.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate educator who demonstrates a commitment to engaging, standards-based instruction. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in lesson planning, tailored to meet diverse student needs, and will foster positive relationships with students from a variety of backgrounds. A genuine enthusiasm for creating relevant and dynamic learning experiences in the classroom is essential.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, the selected candidate will serve as a Crew Leader for a group of students throughout the academic year. As a Crew Leader, the teacher will act as an advocate for students, serve as the primary point of contact between parents and the school, build meaningful relationships, and create impactful experiences. This role also includes monitoring and supporting students' academic and social progress.
Necessary Credentials:
- Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- MUST have an active Colorado Teaching License in English Language Arts (7-12) or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. If additional coursework or a preparation program is required, the applicant must provide proof of enrollment and submission of the required documentation to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) within 30 days of employment.
- Provide degree-conferred official transcripts from a regionally accredited college or university that demonstrates a bachelor's or higher degree.
- Transcripts from institutions outside the U.S. must be in English or include an authentic English translation and have been evaluated by a NACES member organization for course-by-course equivalency.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience teaching English Language Arts, particularly at the 8th grade level.
- Familiarity with ELA standards, literacy strategies, and effective instructional practices.
- Ability to create a positive, engaging, and well-organized learning environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively teach, collaborate, and engage students.
- Ability to adapt lessons for diverse learners, including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with special needs.
- Ability to assess student progress and use data to inform instruction.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools for teaching, grading, and communication.

- Speaking and writing ability in Spanish is not required, but is a plus
