JOB SUMMARY:
Support the Bus Driver in transporting students safely to and from school and assist students while entering and exiting the bus.

QUALIFICATIONS:
       1. High school graduate or GED.
       2. Pleasant and professional manner.
3. Ability to work with children.
       4. Meet the training, safety and background check requirements stated in COMAR §13A.06.07.08.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
Assists young or disabled students in getting on and off the bus.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Assures that students get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion.
Provides written records of violation of the student code to the bus driver.
Collects and turns over to the school secretary those personal items left on bus by students.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay and Hours:
This position is an hourly position. No benefits. Hourly rate is $16.00 per hour.

Judy Center at Sudlersville Elementary School - Grant Funded

JOB SUMMARY: The Judy Center Early Childhood Liaison is responsible for case management, coordination of services, communication with caregivers of young children, home visits and tracking progress of services or referrals for caregivers and/or children identified in the Judy Center catchment area. The duties include assisting in the maintenance of data for evaluation purposes and tracking data documentation. The Judy Center Early Childhood Liaison also conducts outreach and coordinates the local playgroup offered at their respective school/site. The Judy Center Early Childhood Liaison supports and assists caregivers of young children in gaining access to services, provides follow-up and monitors progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

4 year degree in Early Childhood or Human Behavior based degree.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
Experience and effective management in coordinating services and collaborating with multiple agencies and service providers.
Demonstrated ability to relate positively to colleagues, children and families to establish and maintain trusting relationships.
Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relations with office staff, other school employees, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
Preferred experience in working with caregivers of young children.
Thorough working knowledge of current technology to include critical programs, databases, record-keeping, office equipment, and software.
Ability to work independently without supervision and to follow-up and follow through with tasks.
Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential records, and prepare reports from such records.
Ability to work under pressure and make decisions, in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and established policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development and appropriate curriculum for children birth through age five.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Become familiar with the Judith P. Hoyer Enhancement and Early Education Grant Component Standards.
Performs family outreach by arranging services, home visits, and follow-up.
Advises families on services available to them through the Judy Center or community agencies and provides follow-up to ensure services are accessed.
Ensures high visibility, accessibility, and investment, on site daily.
Develops strategies for increasing program visibility and expansion, including recruitment of families and new family service partners.
Collaborates with the Judy Center Coordinator, and partners for outreach activities.
Coordinates, facilitates and/or attends service coordination meetings among partners.
Ensures that children’s developmental or behavioral concerns are brought to the attention of the Judy Center Coordinator.
Ensures appropriate coordination between families and service providers.
Tracks home visits and telephone contact, maintains written case management reports for the Judy Center evaluation purposes, and provides information to the Judy Center Coordinator.
Plans, implements and/or attends various activities and events. Documents Judy Center family attendance.
Obtains and distributes brochures of interest to caregivers of young children: i.e. parent education, health education and developmental milestones, etc.
Participates in IFSP, IEP Meetings and coordinates with IEP Chairpersons.
Regularly attends and actively participates in regularly scheduled meetings between the Judy Center and partnering agencies and organizations.
Attends statewide Judy Center meetings.
Collaborates with the Judy Center Coordinator with presentations on the Judy Center for organizations, agencies, and conferences.
Develops and maintains supportive relationships with licensed childcare providers to support school readiness activities for young children.
Assists with needs assessments and satisfaction surveys.
Provides playgroups in the school or community setting.

Pay and Hours:
Placement on the Queen Anne's County Support Unit I Salary Schedule commensurate with certification, and experience. This position is a 12 month, Grant Funded position.

JOB SUMMARY:

To transport students safely to and from school and assist students while entering and exiting the bus. Responsible for following an assigned route and schedule in the safe and efficient operation of a school bus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Previous school bus driving experience preferred.

• Three (3) years of successful automobile driving experience with a good driving record.

• Possession of or ability to obtain a Maryland Class B Commercial Driver's License (air brake, passenger and school bus endorsements), or equivalent within the period of time specified by the pre-service training program.

• Satisfactorily pass the pre-employment and annual physical examination for school vehicle drivers.

• Satisfactorily pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.

• Satisfactorily pass a fingerprint background investigation.

• Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.

• Must be able to sit for long period of time in the bus driver's seat, reach the steering wheel and pedals and wear the seat belt properly every day.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Drive children safely to and from the various schools on assigned routes in accordance with an established time schedule.

2. Adhere to policies and procedures in maintaining appropriate student behavior and discipline.

3. Administer first aid as required, and contacts appropriate administrators in case of serious injury or illness.

4. May transport, supervise, and assist children with special learning needs and physical handicaps.

5. Complete pre- and post-trip bus inspections; sweep, clean and refuel bus daily.

6. Maintain a clean bus in good mechanical condition and report any mechanical defects or malfunctions.

7. Complete records and reports relating to bus operations in a timely manner; compiles and submits accident report information and reports prolonged traffic delays.

8. Plan, organize and implement vehicle evacuation drills.

9. Respond to public contacts concerning transportation problems and concerns.

10. Attends all in-service and safety training meetings as required.

11. Must have excellent attendance and punctuality.

12. Must maintain a clean and professional appearance.

13. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation.

HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week on average

JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, to perform instructional activities within a classroom/program designed for students with multiple physical and cognitive disabilities, mostly outside of the general education classroom; to assist in the conduct of training and learning activities with children experiencing special learning needs; to perform a variety of routine clerical and supportive activities for instructional personnel; and to do other related work as required.

Qualifications:

High School diploma with passing score on ParaProfessional Assessment, 48 college credits or an Associate’s degree.
Appropriate English usage, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
Routine record storage, retrieval, and management procedures.
Demonstrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups, particularly those exhibiting specialized needs.
Appropriately manage student behavior and guide student toward more acceptable social behaviors.

Responsibilities:

May adjust braces, walkers and wheelchairs. May push, lift, and transfer non-ambulatory students and assist students on and off buses. May assist students with feeding.
Assist teachers in planning, implementing and evaluating instructional lessons, materials, strategies and materials to meet the individual and collective needs of students. Assist students individually or in groups with instructional activities, skills reinforcement activities, recreational play, supervision of field trip experiences and special programs.
Collaborate with identified individuals (e.g. classroom teacher, school counselor, special education teacher, administrator) to support students with significant disabilities in order to be successful in the school environment.
Assist teachers in observing and collecting data on students. Discuss observations/progress of students with instructional staff.
Work directly with students to review or reinforce skills taught in the classroom. Implement strategies that enhance student performance and behavior.
Help maintain an attractive, neat and safe classroom.
Use established reinforcement techniques and appropriate discipline in responding to students' behavior.
Other duties as assigned.

PAY RATE: $17.20/hour **This is a part time non benefited position. Hours are not to exceed 29 per week**
