    Job Summary:
    Coordinates all phases of 2nd shift custodial services for the particular school they are assigned.  The Lead Custodian reports directly to the County-Wide Building Service Foreman and the Building Administrator.  This position is considered essential personnel and may be required to report to work during inclement weather, emergency situations, and other school closings.

    Qualifications:

     
    1. High school graduate or GED.
    2. Knowledge of cleaning solutions and equipment.
    3. Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of cleaning chemicals and products.
    4. Must have excellent attendance record.
    5. Must be pleasant and professional manner.
    6. Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills.
    7. Strength and health adequate for unassisted lifting of 50-75 pounds and other heavy items.
    8. Must be able to ascend and descend on a ladder.
    9. Must have a minimum of three (3) years of custodial experience. 
    10. Must have above average evaluations for the past three (3) years.
    11. Must be a current QACPS employee.

    Essential Functions:
    1. Coordinates the daily 2nd shift custodial services, to assure all tasks are performed according to established priorities and schedules. 
    2. Observes and reports, through the work order system, any and all defects on the facilities.
    3. Reports immediately to the principal any damage to school property. 
    4. May perform minor maintenance tasks in keeping assigned areas safe and operational
    5. May occasionally perform routine ground maintenance functions..
    6. Participates in general cleaning and maintenance of the school building.
    7. Moves furniture, office equipment, and other items which might necessitate the lifting of heavy or bulky articles. 
    8. Reports absences and sick leave to the County-Wide Building Foreman and Building Administrator.
    9. Assumes the responsibility for the security of the building - all doors and windows locked, lights turn off, except for those left on.  
    10. Maintains supplies, equipment and inventory in an organized manner.
    11. Assists in snow removal operations by shoveling snow, spreading chemicals, sweeping, or as otherwise directed.
    12. Remains on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance is required by the principal or County-Wide Building Foreman.
    13. Responsible for correcting any deficiencies listed on the monthly inspection report.
    14. Performs other duties as assigned. 
    Physical Demands:
    1.  Persons performing services in this position classification will exert 50-75 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
    2. Must have an adequate range of motion in the upper extremities. 
    3. This type of work may involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps, and will involve walking or standing for extended periods.
    4. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
    5. Exposure to hot, cold , wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced. 
     

    Hours:

    Hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 2 PM to  10:30 pm
