Description: Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking a Summer School - Band Camp Assistant Director during Summer of 2025. The Assistant Director will assist students in playing their musical instrument of choice while providing whole group and small group instruction for students with and without musical experience to support their learning.   Summer School teachers must commit to attend professional development prior to the beginning of the summer session.

Summer Band Camp Dates/Times:
June 9 – June 30, 2025 and July 7 – July 24, 2025
(No camp on June 19, 2025)

Summer Band Camp meets Monday through Thursday. No camp on Fridays.
Camp goes from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
Assistant Director reports from 7:45 am – 1:15 pm

Instructional Responsibilities:
• Use instructional methods that improve student achievement
• Assign and evaluate appropriate student work
• Involve students in learning
• Make effective use of entire class period
• Use appropriate school support and resource materials
• Convey to students learning goals and the importance of material learned
• Be clear in explanations and directions
• Provide continuity in learning activities

The Director will assist students who are new to the country and need support in preparing for academic and social life in America. The Summer School - Newcomers Camp Director will coordinate with other Enrichment programs which may include field trips and other off-campus opportunities for students that may take place beyond summer school hours. Summer School - Social Workers may be required to commit to attend professional development prior to the beginning of the summer session. Primary Functions:
·       Maintain the confidentiality of all school-related matters

·       Respond to emergency call buttons, fire alarms, or teacher requests as needed
·       Provide study hall management
·       Record attendance in logs and submit scantron slips to data processing
·       Monitor appropriate student behavior conducive to a study environment
·       Provide cafeteria direction
·       Check student Ids for appropriate lunch period attendance
·       Regulate lunch line, ensuring continual movement and proper behavior
·       Circulate throughout student cafeteria during lunch hours, monitoring appropriate student behavior and maintaining a clean area
·       Provide exterior campus surveillance
·       Lock and unlock parking lot gates according to schedule
·       Circulate in school van throughout parking lots, regulating vehicle traffic and securing safety of foot traffic at beginning and ending of school day
