NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
NINE (9) SECONDARY TEACHERS for REGENTS PREP AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
2 MATH TEACHERS ( 1 ALGEBRA & 1 ALGEBRA II/GEOMETRY )
2 SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHERS (1 GLOBAL & 1 US HISTORY)
1 ENGLISH TEACHER
2 SCIENCE TEACHERS (1 LIVING ENVIRONMENT & 1 EARTH SCIENCE)
1 TESOL TEACHER
1 SPECIAL ED TEACHER
POUGHKEEPSIE HIGH SCHOOL
QUALIFICATIONS:
NYS Teaching Certification required
Demonstrated knowledge and application of solid pedagogy
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail
DUTIES:
The Poughkeepsie City School District (PCSD) is committed to providing students and parents with pathways to opportunity that will lead to achievement and success. Through student-centered effective and transformational leadership, school and community engagement, and an unrelenting pursuit to achieve greater school outcomes for children, the Poughkeepsie City Schools is focused on developing and growing greater access, equity, opportunity, and quality across PCSD.
The Regents Preparation After School Program will provide students with the necessary review and understanding of the required core content necessary to achieve a passing score on the actual examination. Teachers selected for this program will: - Work with all building administrators to provide support for students who are taking upcoming Regents examinations;
- Provide clarity for concepts and essential core knowledge for students in the program;
- Monitor progress of students working on the IXL Platform;
- Record student attendance and maintain record of student engagement;
- Provide external resources as needed including online text, articles, and content-specific vocabulary;
- Provide assessments from previous Regents examinations to monitor student success and growth through the program;
- When appropriate, place students in groups so they can work collaboratively on common areas of content;
- Provide support with writing for student essays on relevant Regents examinations that contain essays and/or writing samples;
- Provide written and verbal feedback to students on their progress and areas for growth;
- Program will meet two days per week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:00-4:30 pm, from April 22, 2025 through June 6, 2025.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials, and evaluation of service.Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate.
EFFECTIVE DATES: - April 22, 2025 - June 16, 2025*
- Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:00 - 4:30 pm
- Not to exceed 21 hours max

As per PPSTA contract
