+ Technology Project Management
 
• Develop and implement structured project plans to ensure IT initiatives align with district priorities
• Establish clear project milestones, deliverables, and timelines while monitoring progress to ensure successful completion

• Oversee the planning and execution of district-wide technology initiatives, ensuring smooth integration into school and department workflows

+ Strategic Planning & Departmental Support

+ Technical Leadership

+ Vendor & Contract Management

• Oversee agreements related to network services, cybersecurity solutions, software licensing, and technology infrastructure
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contract terms, and service-level agreements
 
+ Technology Infrastructure & Operations
 
• Work with IT engineering staff to maintain and optimize major district technology systems
• Support the integration of technology solutions into school and department workflows to enhance operational efficiency
• Collaborate with IT leadership to establish and enforce best practices for IT infrastructure management, cybersecurity, and cloud computing
 
+ Technology Planning, Procurement, & Asset Management
 
• Plan for the procurement, deployment, and maintenance of district hardware, software, and IT services
• Develop and implement long-term plans for hardware acquisition and lifecycle management
• Maintain an inventory of IT department equipment and establish replacement schedules
• Oversee the receipt, tagging, and distribution of new hardware and software across the district
 
+ Policy Development & Documentation

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
 
• At least 5 years of professional IT experience
• Proven experience managing IT projects and system improvements in public sector, municipal, or educational settings
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (equivalent experience considered)
• Strong IT project management skills, with experience in scoping, planning, managing milestones, and monitoring progress to ensure timely project completion
• Expertise in IT infrastructure management, cybersecurity, cloud computing, compliance, virtualization, and IT governance

POSITION OVERVIEW: Program Manager, Special Education Data and Finance
 
Portland Public Schools is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented candidate to join our Special Education and Student Support team as Program Manager, Special Education Data and Finance. The Program Manager will play a vital role in the district’s special education program monitoring and evaluation, by ensuring that we have high-quality data on services within our IEP management system (IMS), Acuity, as well as budgets and purchasing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
 
+ Data System Administration
 
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve IMS issues for district users.
• Performs basic IMS setup for schools before the start of the new school year, including facilitating the updating of student assignments and caseloads.
• Facilitate accurate integration and carryover of IMS data with other district data and reporting systems, in collaboration with the Data team.
• Implement, test, and roll out new features of the IMS, as needed
• Develop and maintain necessary support and training materials on use of the IMS, and respond to training needs identified by schools.
• Provide training and support to school-based staff on data entry procedures to ensure data quality and consistency across the district. 
 
+ Data Management and Reporting
 
• Facilitate timely and accurate special education data collection to  meet State and Federal reporting requirements

POSITION OVERVIEW: Related Services Coordinator (Full Time) - Central Office

Portland Public Schools serves a diverse student population of approximately 6,500 students across 17 schools. This includes approximately 1,200 students with IEPs, many of whom receive related services such as speech, occupational therapy, or physical therapy. The Related Services Coordinator will directly support and provide shared supervision of our SLP, OT, and PT teams, as well as oversee our school psychologist team. The Related Services Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing a consistent vision for related services within PPS. • Manage the budgets for related services, including submitting appropriate purchase requests for final approval from department leaders
• Oversee the day to day work of any contracted providers hired by the district
• Lead the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes for new providers

• Create and maintain guidance and best practices around related service evaluation and provision in the public school context
• Create and maintain guidance on best practices around psychological evaluation in the public school context
• Documented and communicate guidance so that it is accessible to all stakeholders (special education staff, general education staff, building leaders, families) as appropriate

• Facilitate professional development opportunities for providers that are aligned with district practices

POSITION OVERVIEW: Specialized Programs Coordinator, Breathe (Behavioral and Social-Emotional Support) - Central Office
 
Portland Public Schools serves a diverse student population of approximately 6,500 students across 17 schools, and operates several different specialized programs for our students with the most significant special needs. The Specialized Programs Coordinator, Breathe will be one of two coordinators reporting to the Director for Specialized Programs, and will directly support all of our school-based Breathe programs. These programs are for students who require substantial behavioral and social-emotional support, and while they can typically access some general education classes, are served in a self-contained setting for at least some of the day due to their significant behavioral need. A successful candidate will have a demonstrated passion for working with this population, and a deep commitment to positive school outcomes for all students. 
 
The department has recently been focused on assessing our specialized programs and determining potential changes to the program designs, and we are seeking coordinators who can lead the implementation of this work as part of the central Specialized Programs team. The person in this role must be able to manage highly detailed work and collaborate effectively with staff and leaders across the district. It requires impeccable organizational and communication skills, and strong knowledge of best practices to improve outcomes for students with significant needs.
 
 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
+ Program Implementation
 
• Oversees a Breathe program model that is consistent across schools, and allows for students to receive appropriate services while maximizing access to general education and the school community 
• Manages a successful collaboration model between the program teams, school leadership, and program staff
• Conducts school and program visits, observations, and meetings with school leadership and program staff on a regular basis 
• Collaborates with school leadership in the observation and evaluation of program staff
• Serves as the LEA representative for related IEP meetings, as needed, in collaboration with school leadership
• Establishes robust communication practices that provide transparency and support to program staff and student families 
• Leads case review meetings to consider student referrals to Breathe, as well as student movement out of the program
• Aligns program staff practices with district approach to creating and implementing quality IEPs and related plans (such as Behavior Intervention Plans)
• Monitors program compliance with all relevant special education law, including IEP documentation and timelines
• Liaises between school staff, families, and external community resources, as needed, to ensure wraparound support for all students
 
+ Staff Training and Support
 
• Ensures that program staff receive meaningful professional learning opportunities that are aligned to adult learning theory and meet the needs of their students
• Collaborates with schools, Network teams, and other departments to integrate professional learning opportunities for all school staff (not just those working directly in the programs) in ways that create coherence for teachers and maximize student access to general education
• Models for staff, in the classroom, effective academic and behavioral interventions 
• As part of the larger professional learning plan for the specialized programs, delivers training directly as needed
 
+ Resource Management
 
• Monitor Breathe program staffing and other resources across the district, and recommend any shifts to department leadership as needed based on enrollment or other changes
