    Position/Role Summary:
    The School Psychologist provides support for the school, its students, and staff.  Emphasis is on collaboratively utilizing the problem-solving process to promote student learning and growth.  The School Psychologist is a member of the grade-level problem-solving teams, core problem solving team and student support teams. Additionally, the school psychologist participates in developing systems to provide targeted social-emotional, behavioral, and academic supports.  Emphasis is on leading the implementation of MTSS components including the problem solving process, assessment systems, and parent engagement.
     
    Qualifications:
    • Professional Educator License (PEL), School Psychology Endorsement.
    • Knowledge of curriculum, program modifications, and accommodations for students with disabilities.
    • Experience in systems change, research-based programming, data-based decision making, and behavior intervention planning.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Steadfast belief that all students can learn at high levels.

    Responsibilities:
     
    Intervention Supports
    • Develops, implements and supports evidenced-based intervention plans (academic and behavioral) that enable children to benefit from their educational experiences.
    • Provides individual/group counseling to students and provides other services to enhance success in the educational process on a regular basis.
    • Provides and oversees crisis intervention support and other services to the school community.
    • Provides leadership in the development of a multi-tiered continuum of services to support academic, social, emotional, and behavioral goals for students.
     
    Assessment and Problem Solving:
    • Provides leadership and participates on program Problem Solving Teams to support the development of positive behavior supports and academic intervention plans.
    • Completes necessary portions of special education and section 504 evaluations through the use of data-based decision making.
     
    • Collaborates with the educational team in the decision making process for determination of eligibility, continuation of eligibility, or discontinuation of eligibility.
     
    Consultation and Collaboration
    • Consults and collaborates with faculty, staff, and administration to address student needs and concerns that arise throughout the school year, and directs staff to address those needs and concerns.
    • Promotes the development of positive behavior supports and evidenced-based interventions.
     
    Ethical and Professional Practice:
    • Acts as a mandated reporter and will communicate any pertinent information to the proper authorities in cases of child endangerment, neglect or abuse.
    • Responds to crisis situations in tandem with colleagues.
    • Maintains accurate records of services provided.
    • Strengthens working relationships between educators, students, parents, and community and assists in referrals of youth of families to community or private agencies for further evaluation, treatment, or services, when needed.
    • Maintains and respects confidentiality of student information.
    • Develops and maintains positive, productive and professional working relationships with all stakeholders.
