Orono Middle School
 
• Special Education Teacher:  4 days/week Monday-Thursday 
 
Academic Teacher
 
• Special Education Teacher, as needed
 
Paraeducators
 
• Elementary Special Education Paraeducators, 2 or 4 days/week Monday-Thursday

• Secondary Special Education Paraeducators, 2 or 4 days/week Monday-Thursday

• Transition Program Special Education Paraeducators,  2 or 4 days/week Monday-Thursday
 
Qualifications:
 
• Special Education Teacher license preferred for Teaching positions.

• Ability to supervise children in a positive manner.

• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.

• Strong reading, writing, math skills.

• Experience working with children.

Compensation: 

External Teacher and Speech Language Pathologist: $33.47/hour
Internal Special Education Paraeducators: $20.89/hour
Internal Teacher and Speech Language Pathologist: Regular Rate

Position Title:  School Psychologist Intern 25/26 School Year

Term of Employment:  2025-26 school year    

Job Summary:  The Orono Schools are seeking a doctorate-level internship student to gain experience over an array of psychological services in grades 6-8 for the 2025-2026 school year.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
• Provide parent training as appropriate.
• Assess students referred to special education through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices.
• Complete and submit written reports to parents five (5) days prior to the Individualized Education Program (IEP) meeting.
• Participate as an IEP team member in the identification, IEP development, and placement of students with disabilities in special education.
• Maintain case records on students.
• Recommend evidence-based intervention strategies and programming.
• Collaborate with schools to provide data-based interventions for identified students.
• Confer with teachers, parents, various agencies, and professionals as appropriate regarding the education  and social/emotional needs of identified students.
• Interpret assessment data for parents, teachers, staff, and others as appropriate.
• Conduct functional behavioral assessments and develop functional behavior intervention plans for students with disabilities.
• Completes classroom evaluations, assists the certified school psychologist with record/data keeping.
• Assist with development of building/secondary MTSS procedures and data collection
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Working towards a specialist of doctoral degree in school psychology or a related discipline in child psychology and is eligible for internship as determined by the graduate program.
 
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:   
• Demonstrates leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and colleagues.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must provide three letters from professional references, including one letter of recommendation from the graduate training program completed or currently enrolled in.
• Possess strong organization and communication skills.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

COMPENSATION: $50,000 stipend
