  Description:  Special Education Paraeducator - Orono Elementary Center

Job Summary: 
• Provide supervision to students in special education at the elementary level.
• Efficiently and effectively assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning program in a special education setting while working under the supervision of a special education teacher.
• Perform support work assisting students in meeting educational, communication, emotional, physical and behavioral goals of speical needs students. 
• Work individually or in small groups.
• Collaborate with other teaching staff and paraprofessionals for the benefit of all students.
• Help students develop life skills.
 
Qualifications:
 
• This is a 7 hour (6.5 hours paid) per day position for 170 days/year.
• Paraprofessionals must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, which entails lifting, bending, and twisting in various settings.
• Be a motivated, self-starter with the ability to handle situations with a calm demeanor.
• Must possess high level of compassion for students with developmental disabilities.
• Flexibility and a cooperative nature are required.

COMPENSATION
Hourly Wage: $18.94-$22.23

Single Health: 90% Covered by District
