REPORTS TO:           Director of Digital Learning and Teaching Services / Associate Superintendent for Instructional Services and Continuous Improvement/ Building Level Principal

PURPOSE:
The Digital Learning and Teaching Facilitator will work directly with classroom teachers, students, and instructional staff in a non-evaluative role to provide training, (professional development), and support on implementing effective technology integration, the Information and Technology Essential Standards, the revised North Carolina Standard Course of Study, and administrative applications into effective instructional practices.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Working knowledge of the Information and Technology Essential Standards and the revised North Carolina Standard Course of Study
• Ability to survey, compile, facilitate, and deliver research-based and high quality professional development in strict alignment with the district improvement plan
• Possession of and skillful in the use of information and instructional technology
• Knowledge of and/or the aptitude to learn the Onslow County Schools instructional program and platform
• Ability to troubleshoot software programs and hardware compatibility
• Thorough knowledge of processes related to the integration of technology in all curriculum areas and copyright laws and regulations pertaining to the distribution and use of resources
• Understanding of the local, state and federal assessment and accountability processes
• Knowledge of and ability to design differentiated lessons and activities to address individual student needs
• Ability to develop and maintain harmonious and productive working relationships with employees, school personnel, and the public
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
 
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
• Current North Carolina teaching license
• At least three  years of successful teaching experience
• Master’s Level 077 – Instructional Technology Facilitator Required
 
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 month

SALARY: North Carolina Teacher Salary Schedule

FLSA Status: Exempt


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collaborate with teachers and other school and district instructional staff to develop curriculum materials and specific lesson plans that integrate technology.
2. Model safe, ethical, and effective integration strategies of technology in all curriculum areas.
3. Facilitate school participation in technology programs and activities.
4. Serve as an advocate for the schools.
5. Provide professional development on research-based instructional practices in the areas of technology integration, the Information and Technology Essential Standards, and the North Carolina Technology Competencies for Educators.
6. Collaborate with media coordinators to provide leadership in the school’s use of instructional technology resources to enhance learning.
7. Collaborate with lead instructional personnel at the school and district level to establish instructional support teams at the schools.
8. Implement best practices related to technology use in the school program based on research, pilot programs, and state/national standards to ensure fidelity to research based instructional practices.
9. Collaborate with teachers and technology staff to analyze student assessment data, reflect on instruction, select resources, and plan instructional activities that are compatible with the school technology infrastructure and based on student need.
10. Serve as the liaison contact between central level supervision and school staffs for addressing hardware and software issues.
11. Serve as a liaison to facilitate and connect district resources and personnel.
12. Provide leadership and collaborate with the school Media and Technology Advisory Committee to develop, implement, and update a school instructional technology plan aligned the system-level technology plan.
13. Collaborate with teachers, media and technology staff, and students to evaluate and select resources addressing curricular needs and learning goals.
14. Collaborate with teachers and other specialists to identify students’ interests, learning styles, and unique instructional requirements and to design instructional strategies guided by universal design principles.
15. Prepare and submit accurate reports as required.
16. Improve or enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of programs, operations and processes in the system.
17. Fulfil the instructional vision of the schools as set forth by the principal
18. Identify the core curriculum
19. Collect and analyze relevant data
20. Assist school and district leaders with key instructional initiatives
21. Provide resources and assistance for classroom teachers
22. Compile reports for school and district administration to inform strategic plans and intervention strategies.
23. Perform other duties as necessary or requested to support ongoing operations of the Department of Instructional Services and Continuous Improvement and individual school(s).
 
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•  Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to bend, stoop, carry, push, or pull. Requires ability to transport technology and equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds routinely and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to visually, auditorily, and physically monitor student performance and conduct.
• Must be able to drive to variety of school sites.
• Must be able to facilitate the evacuation of students during emergency situations and/or drills.

1. Provides tier one support for all computers, and software within the school district.
2. Performs upgrades to hardware and software applications as identified by senior level IT staff.
3. Uses a work-order tracking system for routine repair and maintenance of equipment.
4. Refers complex problems to higher level technical support.
5. Maintains site licenses and user administration for specified software within the assigned facilities.
6. Maintains inventory control procedures for technology equipment within the assigned facilities.
7. Attends classes and seminars to enhance knowledge of equipment, operating systems, and application software.
8. Performs any other work assignments, as assigned.
