Essential Functions:
The Food Service Manager will serve as the primary liaison between the District, parents, and the Food Service Management Company (FSMC) to ensure the efficient and equitable delivery of food services. This role will involve coordinating communication among all stakeholders to address concerns. The Food Service Manager will also manage the district's National School Lunch Program (NSLP), including assigning benefits and accounting for lunch receipts. Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills are essential for fostering positive relationships and maintaining a high standard of service.
*Exact duties will vary with the assignment but will include any of the following:
Program Management & Oversight
Overseeing and managing the FSMC contract.
Ensuring compliance with the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirements.
Monitoring the free and reduced-price meals program and maintaining records.
Financial Management
Developing and managing the food service budget.
Approving FSMC invoices and reconciling deposits.
Processing NSLP claims for reimbursement.
Compliance & Reporting
Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Managing student information systems related to meal eligibility.
Handling procurement and audits for food service operations.
Communication & Collaboration
Coordinating with administrators, parents, and external organizations.
Attending district meetings and representing food services in committees and councils.
Facilitating wellness and advisory meal committee meetings.
Operational Supervision
Technology & Software Use - Utilizing district software and systems for data management and analysis.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer support
Computer proficiency (database management, email, Microsoft Office, Google functions, website, internet, etc)
Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on occasion, the noise level will be high.
Work is usually conducted indoors. This work may be conducted at any school location.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Spanish fluency preferred)
Ability to independently manage processes and projects
Ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate and required
Minimum of three years of administrative assistant or food service experience
- College degree desirable
Work Conditions:
Salary: $80,000.00 per year plus excellent benefits including IMRF Retirement Pension Service Credit, paid sick, personal, bereavement leave, and other benefits in a 8 hour paid work day.

Selection Procedure:
