Ticasuk Brown Elementary School Hunter Elementary School Job Summary: This summer program is for 3rd-grade students who have been identified as “Well Below” in their reading achievement according to mCLASS. According to the Alaska Reads Act, these students must complete 20 hours of reading instruction over the summer in order to progress on to 4th grade. This summer reading program will last four weeks (weeks of June 2, 9, 16, and 23), and the students will choose ONE week to attend. General Responsibilities/Duties: Teacher Assistants will provide reading instruction for 2 or 4 weeks. If the educator chooses 2 weeks, the educator must choose either the first two weeks or the last two weeks of June. Salary: Grade 5 in accordance with Article 7.11 of the ESSA Negotiated Agreement Program Dates: June 2 - June 26, 2025 Work Schedule: Part Time, Work Hours Determined by Supervisor Job Qualificiations - Required:

Experience supporting the teaching of reading in elementary grade Physical and Mental Demands The physical demands of this position require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. Requires near vision to write and read printed materials and computer screens. Requires hearing and speaking to exchange information on the telephone or in person. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and frequently lift items weighing up to 35 lbs. Must be able to use carts, ladders, dollies, and stools to assist in moving or shelving items. Requires sufficient arm, hand, finger dexterity to operate a keyboard and other office equipment. Repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers may also be required. Additionally, the employee must be able to communicate by oral and written means in an appropriate business manner and have cognitive skills to understand instructions, readily recall facts and details, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
