This position is for the 2024-2025 school year. 

Job Summary: Interprets/transliterates spoken language into sign language for hearing impaired students and interprets/transliterates sign language into spoken language for students and teachers; performs routine instructional aide functions related to the instruction of the hearing-impaired student(s).


Starting Hourly Rate: Grade 10 $26.47 - $36.62  DOE 
Work Day: 7 hours per day
Work Year: 9 months
Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)
 
 
Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):
 
1. High school diploma or equivalent. 
2. Completion of appropriate interpreter academic training program or equivalent experience required to present a score of 4.0 or better on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA). 
3. Must demonstrate competency on videotaped skills test by presenting a score of 4.0 or better on the EIPA and passing score on the EIPA written test. 
4. Interpreters who score a 3.0 may be hired, with the condition that they raise 2 of 3 their score to 4.0 within two (2) years. To maintain a highly qualified standing, a minimum of 60 contact hours of continuing education must be completed and documented every five (5) years: 30 hours in the area of knowledge and 30 hours in the area of skills. Documentation of these hours shall be provided and kept on file at the district’s special education office. 
5. Six (6) months of experience in educational settings and tutoring background. 
6. Knowledge of and strong understanding of English language. 
7. Knowledge of deaf culture, linguistics, language development, and American Sign Language (vocabulary, syntax, morphology) structures.

This position is for the 2025 - 2026 school year 

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Executive Director of Special Education and supervision of the School Psychologist, provide direct services for assigned schools; assist in the intervention process as a member of the Student Support Team; perform individual psychological observations, evaluations and assessments of referred students; explain the results of these evaluations to parents, teachers and students, when appropriate; provide consultation to educational staff regarding behavioral issues; and perform other related work as required.
 
Hourly Rate: Grade 11: $30.75 - $41.62 DOE 
Work Day: 7 hours a day
Work Year: 9 months
Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)

The following are required:
 
1. Needs to have completed, at minimum, an academic program in the area of school psychology (except for the internship).
2. Must have knowledge of modern psychological principles, processes and techniques.
3. Accepted psychological observation, evaluation and assessment instruments, procedures and applications.
4. Applicable procedures, policies, rules, regulations, codes, laws and guidelines pertaining to special education.
5. Processes involved with the evaluation summary eligibility report.
6. Strong verbal and written skills in English; proper English usage, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation.
7. Data tracking and collection, record management and reporting methods.
8. Skill in use of computers and technology, to include, but not limited to email, internet, Microsoft Office, or equivalent software. 
9. Must work effectively with staff, students, parents, and administration.
10. Must be able to manage time and prioritize projects; ability to maintain a safe environment for students.
