Our program runs for 3 hours in the afternoon from Monday to Friday (roughly 2:30pm-5:30pm)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Teacher certification in Elementary Education is required. Previous experience  working with elementary aged school is preferred. Other qualities sought include excellent verbal and written communication skills, use of technology, a growth mindset, proactive problem solving, teamwork, innovative thinking, creativity, patience, and flexibility.

The 21^st Century Extended Day Program mission is to nurture intellectual curiosity and reinforce self-confidence in our students through goal-oriented, project-based learning that builds practical skills and develops character.  The Academic Enrichment Teacher develops and teaches classes with a strong academic component that demonstrates a link to school day learning,  Using the Nashua School District Curriculum, the Academic Enrichment Teacher provides students with support with their homework in order for students to meet their grade level expectations. Uses effective strategies for differentiation, interacts positively, professionally, showing respect with students and parents, expects students to learn and not fail, actively engages students in completion of lessons that are planned around grade level expectations and enhance critical thinking skills.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Afterschool Instructors create a safe, positive, environment that supports children’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.  They create lesson plans for and lead thematically-integrated enrichment activities within the broader context of larger projects that nurture a child’s love of learning and reinforce the child’s self-confidence through skill-building and character-development.  These activities, although not remedial in nature, should nevertheless reinforce the grade-level math and literacy learning that occurs during the regular school day.

POSITION:                  Title 1 Blast-Off to Paraeducator
LOCATION:                 Fairgrounds Elementary School
REPORTS TO:            Director of Title 1
WORK YEAR:             July 7 – August 1, 2025 (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM)     
SALARY RANGE:       Internal Paraeducators will be paid their current hourly rate.

QUALIFICATIONS:   High School Diploma or GED.  Title 1 Schools require Highly Qualified Status that would include either an Associate’s Degree or an equivalent two years of college, Bachelor degree or Paraeducator II certification from the NH Dept of Education.
 
EXPLANATION OF PARAEDUCATORS JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Paraeducator:  Under the direction of the classroom teacher the Paraeducator assists in the implementation and reinforcement of the instructional curriculum, helps prepare and administer testing, provide input to teachers, guidance counselors, and school administration regarding student performance.
Title 1, Kindergarten, ELL and Special Education Instructional paraeducators fall under this category.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Teaching applicants must be NH certified or eligible to teach Elementary Education.

SUMMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
A Teacher in the Nashua School District is highly qualified for the delivery of specified course content, uses effective strategies for differentiation, interacts positively, professionally, showing respect with students and parents, expects students to learn and not fail, actively engages students in lessons that are planned around grade level expectations and enhance critical thinking skills. Teachers implement instructional strategies that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences. The effective teacher inspires and empowers students in their own learning and collaborates with their peers regularly to align curriculum and enhance the instructional environment towards gains in student performance goals. Professional obligations of teachers are met through continuous pursuit of new understanding of teaching and learning, reflection on their own practices and beliefs and through efficient work habits for planning lessons, meeting deadlines and honoring schedules.  The ESY Teacher prepares lesson plans, oversees implementation of modifications and objectives defined in Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student in their case load, and teaches general classroom education material in the student-specific modality.
