    Lincoln County School District is accepting on-line applications for an Advocate.  This position will be part time and primarily located at the Compass Center.  This is a temporary position for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year only.  
     

     

    PURPOSE: The primary purpose of the Advocate is to identify and assist students with resources and support related to school enrollment and retention, and to promote school and community partnerships that support students and families.

     

    Job duties may include, but are not limited to: 

    • Coordinates services and events through the HELP Center(s).
    • Identifies and assists children and families with McKinney-Vento services, including conducting home visits and transporting students when necessary.
    • Trains school staff and community organizations related to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Act.
    • Works with McKinney-Vento Liaison in coordinating McKinney-Vento services and identifying community resources.
    • Contacts parents to discuss student's progress, attendance, and to promote parent involvement within the school.
    • Participates in school, district and community meetings to support students.
    • Serves as liaison between student, home, school and community resources such as family service agencies, youth and early childhood programs, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, medical services and housing programs.
    • Promotes school and community partnerships.
    • Speaks to community organizations, emphasizing the need for volunteers and resources for students.
    • Processes, trains and supports students and community members as volunteers within school programs.
    • Coordinates programming such as tutoring, career planning, meal programs, and resource events benefitting students and families.
    • Assists with fundraisers.
    • Creates resource documents, and communicates resources via district approved methods.
    • Maintains report data for program as requested. 
     


    Salary: $19.46-21.49/hour
    This is a 3 hour per school day position.  
    Qualified applicants will be asked for an interview and must provide a resume and at least 2 letters of recommendation. Upon selection, employees will be required to pay for the following:  $12.50 fingerprinting fee and $66 ODE processing fee.

    Qualifications: 

     
    • Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent; must meet NCLB requirements: AA degree or two years college or pass a district-approved assessment in reading, writing, math and instructional strategies. One to three months related experience or training.
     

    This position will be housed at Taft Elementary School. Knowledge and experience of our local area is a helpful.
