Qualifications & Experience
- Entry level knowledge of general facility maintenance issues
- General knowledge of mechanics and mechanics repair
- High School diploma, or equivalent
- Possess current CDL or be able to obtain CDL
- CPR/First Aid certification or able to obtain certification
- Pass fingerprint/background check
- Ability to take direction, work independently and complete assigned tasks
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents, community and staff
- Evidence of ability to effectively use technology to perform duties
- Ability to ascend and descend from various ladders as needed
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Responsibilities & Duties
- Assume responsibility for the opening of school buildings each workday, disabling the alarms, turning on lights, unlocking gates and placing speed limit and/or crossing signs on the roadways.
- Keep buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, grounds and play areas neat and clean at all times.
- Hose and/or sweep sidewalks, driveways and steps as appropriate.
- Wash windows on both inside and outside as requested by principal.
- Ensure restrooms are clean and sanitary at all times.
- Clean drinking fountains as needed.
- Ensure corridors and hallways are neat and trash free.
- Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
- Clean all whiteboards in common areas or conference rooms at least once a week.
- Empty wastebaskets and trash containers in common areas and restrooms as needed.
- Perform minor repairs to equipment in the classrooms or offices (replacing light bulbs, overhead projector bulbs, etc).
- Move furniture or equipment within school site, set up specialty equipment (stage, sound equipment, etc.) as required for various activities and as directed by the Principal.
- Respond to requests from Principal or teachers for sanitation issues that may arise throughout the normal workday.
- Immediately report to the Principal and any damage to school property and submit a work order on the Help Desk work order system.
- Immediately report any major repairs needed to the Principal and Maintenance Supervisor and submit a work order on the Help Desk work order system.
- Assist District Maintenance personnel when needed.
- Requisition needed supplies by submitting a work order in the Help Desk work order system. Ensure sufficient time to permit restocking without hindrance to the school’s operation.
- Change the marquee on a weekly basis or as needed for special events.
- Attend meetings, district activities and training as assigned.
- Maintain open communication with students, parents, community and staff.
- Continue personal and professional development.
- Represent the district in a professional manner, and in the best interests of the district.
- Perform additional duties and accept other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls and use a keyboard or keypad. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods and walk or sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Employee will be required to ascend and descend from ladders of various heights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus and monitor objects or people on the periphery.
Working Environment
The employee regularly works indoors and outdoors in all temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Terms of Employment
- Non-Exempt Status
- 12 months (207 days) - 2025-2026 12 Month Support Staff Calendar
- 10 hours per day/Monday-Thursday

Compensation
$15.12-$15.40 per hour
