General Statement of Responsibilities
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) gives guidance in developing and maintaining a total school health program. She/he works with the administration to properly direct and carry out appropriate health services activities.
Qualifications & Experience
Current license to practice as a professional Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Arizona
Current CPR/First-Aid Certification
Recent experience in public health, school nursing, and/or maternal child-health nursing preferred
Must possess good verbal, written, and human relation skills
Proficient computer skills
Ability to work independently
Effective organizational and time-management skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees, community, and staff
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Responsibilities & Duties
Participates in the formulation of policies, standards, and objectives of the school health program
Keeps the administrators and other school personnel informed about problems and acquaints them with the resources of the community
Observes the school environment for safety hazards and sanitary conditions and reports to responsible persons
Ensures compliance of immunizations for staff as well as students
Participates in faculty and/or parent meetings as needed (Including IEP and 504 meetings)
Serves as a resource person in the area of health to school personnel, students and parents
Acts as the District’s liaison to the community health service agencies
Studies and evaluates own job performance and plans for continuing professional growth
Assumes responsibility for screening procedures such as those for hearing and vision
Maintains and uses cumulative health records for all students
Participates in formulating policies for the care of the student who becomes ill or who is injured at school
Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus and monitor students on the periphery.
Working Environment
The employee regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to communicate effectively with staff, students, and community members.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to address problems involving several variables in a multitude of situations.

Non-Exempt Status
10 months (172 days) 2025-2026 School Secretary and Health Office Work Calendar
8.75 hours per day/ Monday-Thursday, 5 hours on working Friday's per work calendar
Sick/Personal Leave.

Participation in Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)
Compensation
Level 6 on the 2024-2025 Support Staff Wage Schedule ($17.77-$18.66 per hour)
