    Position Title:  Coordinator of MTSS and Early Literacy - 240 Days

    SUMMARY/FUNCTION:
    The Coordinator of MTSS and Early Literacy will serve as a leader in the best practices of early literacy and intervention strategies for Lexington School District Two. The coordinator will serve as a content area expert and facilitate professional learning in schools across the district. The coordinator will focus primarily on grades PreK-2, providing support for teachers, instructional coaches, and building administration through classroom demonstrations, co-teaching, coaching, and high quality learning opportunities in the areas of literacy across disciplines and intervention. 
     
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Act as a subject matter expert in early literacy to enhance content knowledge.
    • Assist administrators in identifying and implementing highly effective PreK-2 literacy strategies.
    • Design and deliver professional learning for PreK-2 educators, emphasizing foundational literacy skills, best instructional practices, and literacy assessment strategies.
    • Provide model lessons, co-teaching experiences, and coaching opportunities to support best practices in early literacy instruction.
    • Guide educators in effectively utilizing literacy assessments and data to inform instruction.
    • Provide consultation and training for teachers and support staff in literacy and intervention services.
    • Plan and lead MTSS professional development and training for school-based and district staff.
    • Develop and facilitate training and support for interventionists, administrators, and other district and school personnel.
    • Support district and school staff in effectively implementing intervention programs within a multi-tiered system of support.
    • Establish and oversee a District MTSS Committee with representatives from school sites and key stakeholders.
    • Build a professional learning network for coaches and mentors.
    • Serve as a resource for professional materials and instructional strategies.
    • Assist in developing and delivering site-based training and staff development aligned with student achievement goals.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the district’s educational mission.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS
    Education and Experience:
    • Master's degree or higher, in Education and valid/current South Carolina Professional Teaching Certificate.  Copy of certificate required in application.
    • Minimum of 5 years classroom teaching experience
    • Experience in education and leadership preferred
     
    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    Ability to read and analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, and the general public.
     
    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
     
    REASONING ABILITY:
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
     
    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:  Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
