Reports To: Building Principal, Director of Special Services
Position Start Date: As soon as a suitable candidate is found.
Required Certification: Ed Tech II Certification/Criminal History Record Check

The Kittery School District is currently seeking an Educational Technician II at Mitchell Elementary School to support a student with special needs throughout the school day.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Attend to individual student needs outlined in the IEP throughout the school day
Maintain confidentiality of all student, family and employee related information
Meet with program supervisor on a daily basis to share information and discuss student progress
Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the teachers
Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and class management functions
Maintain appropriate certification by attending meetings and trainings as assigned
Exhibit positive language and behavior skills as a model for children and families
Provide input to completion and maintenance of individual observational child assessment
Participate in required training
Perform any other appropriate duties the Special Education Director/Supervisor deems necessary
Minimum Qualifications
Obtain and maintain authorization as an Ed Tech II per Chapter 115 of the Maine Department of Education
Document at least two years of postsecondary education or a combination equivalent to 60 hours of approved study in an educationally related field
Successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting and reference check
Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Experience with communication devices (AAC) preferred, but training will be provided
Working knowledge of child development, disabilities, family systems and special education methods, specifically related to autism and behavior management
Exhibit a positive professionalism with supervisors, co-workers, students, parents and community
Interact with a wide variety of people
Provide individual and group services in a variety of settings and models
Establish an effective rapport/relationship with children and parents
Work collaboratively as a member of an early childhood team
Effectively communicate - orally and in writing
Maintain composure in stressful situations
Adapt therapy techniques to varying personalities and environments
Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and ability to take initiative
