    QUALIFICATIONS:  This position requires knowledge of all phases of construction industry, such as construction law and practice; construction materials, specifications and contract provisions; architectural and engineering plans, specifications and blueprints and their proper interpretation; applicable education code requirements and state, county, and local laws and ordinances pertaining to site acquisition and school building programs; bidding procedures and contract administration. 

    Must possess the ability to oversee the work of others; communicate effectively orally and in writing; effectively and simultaneously work on multiple projects and coordinate bidding procedures, etc.; communicate with various governmental agencies regarding the status of district construction projects; consult with District staff, consultants, architects, engineers, and others during life of projects; supervise various reconstruction projects including ground improvements, building alterations and new construction; observes construction operations and implementation of design requirements; implement all local planning documents and EIR documents which affect the District; coordinate with District Staff to ensure timely completion of projects; prepare a variety of reports and analysis of change orders, issues, submittals, R.F.I. etc.; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties; perform other related duties as required.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  A degree in architectural, engineering or related field is desirable, in combination with sufficient education, training and experience to demonstrate ability to carry out the responsibilities of the position.  Minimum experience of four (4) to six (6) years in architecture, management and administration of construction projects or related fields.

    A PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESMENT AND A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

    DUTIES OF POSITION:  Serves primarily as a design project manager, under general supervision of the Director of Facilities Planning, to represent the District with project design an on-site responsibility for the design of new high schools, modernizations, reconstruction and miscellaneous projects; coordinates with the general contractor, construction managers, architect/ design team, building departments, District’s administration and staff to complete each project on schedule and within budget; coordinating design, reviews, and approvals as required; ensures proper project documentation is maintained.

    STARTING SALARY:                        $8,522.89  (monthly)
     
    NUMBER OF MONTHS:                   12 (to begin as soon as possible)
     
    NUMBER OF HOURS:                      8 (daily working hours 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
