Overview
The Charter School of Wilmington is seeking substitute teachers who are excited to share our mission of engaging students in a world-class education that prepares them for college and beyond.
 
As a substitute, you will play a vital role in supporting The Charter School of Wilmington’s outcomes and strategy by providing support to students, families, and teachers.
 
Key Responsibilities
• Effectively manage a classroom of students.
• Supervise and ensure the safety of students during school hours.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and school policies.
• Maintain complete and accurate student attendance records.
• Assist teachers teaching remotely or follow lesson plans left by the teacher.
• Keep students on task.
• Ensure the technology in the classroom is working properly and contact IT as needed.
• Supervise student arrival and dismissal.
 Critical Experience and Qualifications
• Experience teaching or interacting with high school students is preferred.
• Knowledge of federal/state laws, rules and regulations as they apply to schools and special education
• Ability to work well with students, parents, and staff
• Commitment and enthusiasm for working with a high-performing student population focused on implementing best practices related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
• Optimism, resilience, curiosity, and a strong passion for personal growth and student and teacher success
Education
High School Diploma/GED (some college preferred).
 
Certification Requirements
Hold or be eligible for Secondary School Teacher certification is preferred. Details can be found here.
 
Compensation
Direct deposit of payroll checks is mandatory for state employment, and employees are paid on a lag pay schedule with the first payment made after approximately one month of employment.
 
Notes
A criminal background check, Delaware Child Protection Registry check, and tuberculosis test are required.
