Responsibilities
 
• Work in conjunction with district's pilot dual language program staff
• Coordinate classroom tasks as outlined by the building principal
• Work to achieve the New Jersey Learning Standards and district educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning in the classroom using board-adopted curriculum and other appropriate learning activities
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
• Set specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans; and carry through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives
• Monitor students' academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction. Effectively communicate standards and progress with parents regularly
• Maintain productive relationships with parents and other staff members
• Maintain records of students' educational progress in the Genesis system and summarize as appropriate
• Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning
• Plan class activities and lesson presentations that are age-appropriate for the class and meet the individual needs, interests and ability levels of all students

Responsibilities

The Hoboken Public Schools Department of Special Services is accepting applications for part-time paraprofessional teacher aides.  As a paraprofessional in classrooms, aides provide valuable assistance to teachers and students.  Part-time paraprofessionals who successfully complete the application and interview processes are offered a ten-month salary, union membership, NJ state pension retirement contribution matching, and extensive training.  Paraprofessionals pursuing full-time teaching positions have the additional benefit of the opportunity to develop and expand his or her experience in education while enhancing skills and knowledge.  Interested applicants are encouraged to apply and will be invited to interview with the Supervisor of Special Education pending a successful initial application review.
 
                    
Assist in the classroom under the guidance of a certified teacher, including:   Support Instruction: Assist the teacher in delivering instructional activities and implementing lesson plans. Provide individualized or small group support to students to reinforce learning and ensure understanding. Classroom Management: Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, orderly learning environment. Implement behavioral strategies and support students in following classroom rules. Student Assistance: Support students with various needs, including academic, behavioral, and emotional. Offer help with assignments, projects, and daily tasks to facilitate their learning and participation. Assessment and Monitoring: Observe and record student progress and behavior. Provide feedback to the teacher regarding student performance, challenges, and areas for improvement. Personal Care: Assist students with personal care tasks as needed, such as mobility, hygiene, toileting/diapering, and feeding, while promoting independence and dignity. Lifting or carrying a small child up to 40lbs. Resource Preparation: Prepare and organize instructional materials and resources for classroom activities. Ensure materials are ready and accessible for students and teachers. Facilitate Communication: Act as a liaison between students, teachers, and parents. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns. Behavioral Support: Implement and support individual behavior plans and strategies. Provide guidance and assistance to help students manage their behavior and achieve positive outcomes. Support Learning Activities: Assist with the setup and supervision of classroom and extracurricular activities. Support students during group work, hands-on activities, and special projects. Data Entry and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and any incidents or observations. Ensure that documentation is kept up-to-date and organized. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, specialists, and other school staff to support the educational and developmental needs of students. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of student support plans. Professional Development: Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to supporting students and classroom management. Safety and Supervision: Monitor students during transitions, recess, and other non-instructional times to ensure their safety and well-being. Address any safety concerns and report incidents as required. Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of students and the classroom environment. Requirements & Qualifications

Either a:
Valid NJ County Substitute Teacher Certificate.  
 
                                               -60 semester-hour credits at an accredited college or university  OR
 
                     -30 semester-hour credits, be actively enrolled at an accredited college or university, and be at least 20 years of age
 
Or a: 
       Valid NJDOE Teacher Certification 

And:
