Bachelors degree in education in the area of expertise and MoCI endorsement from the State of Michigan
School year - 186 day full time position with full benefit package
SUMMARY:
Responsible for planning instruction and/or adoption of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned
- Provides a basic core program for cognitively impaired students based on State of Michigan aligned curriculum
- Counsels individuals and groups of MI students with educational, occupational and personal problems
- Coordinates and supervises work experience and on-campus job-training programs involving MoCI students
- Plans curriculum, lessons, special education programs and teaching methods
- Evaluates student progress based on classroom work, test scores, and observation
- Maintains the physical environment of the classroom
- Maintains contact with parents of students
- Works with staff to coordinate goals and objectives
- Assists the MoCI student in making a realistic assessment of his abilities and in establishing educational and occupational goals in keeping with these abilities
- Assists in screening, evaluating, and recommending placements of applicants in the school’s MoCI program
- Evaluates student progress based on work output and observation, determines goals, objectives and directions
- Prepares progress reports, reading records, IEPT forms, classroom observation records, and other misc. surveys and forms
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES:
Supervises students and directs paraprofessional
