Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students.
- Assessing students' achievements and tailoring instructional strategies to meet their needs.
- Collaborating with staff, parents, and community agencies to support student development.
- Participating in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings.
- Implementing behavior intervention plans and health care procedures as needed.
- Engaging in professional development and staying current with best practices in autism education
Qualifications and Experience: - Bachelor's degree required.
- Valid Michigan teacher's certificate with approval in autism spectrum disorder.
- Demonstrated successful student teaching experience required; two years of experience preferred.
- Ability to explain and demonstrate appropriate teaching techniques.
- Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency.
- Demonstrates initiative and understanding in working with students, staff, and parents/guardians
Salary and Benefits: - Competitive Salary: The salary schedule for the 2024-2025 school year includes a 2% increase on schedule, with salaries ranging from $36,896 to $87,437 depending on qualifications and experience. Additionally, eligible special education positions will receive an additional 2% off-schedule stipend.

Team Structure: The Teacher will work under the supervision of the Building Principal. The team includes other specialists, classroom teachers, and support staff who collaborate to provide comprehensive services to students with autism. Regular consultations and coordination with community agencies, local districts, and other educational professionals are integral to the role.
