Applicants must submit an online application to be considered for employment. www.gbcs.org As a transportation assistant, you will work as on-board partners with school bus drivers - monitoring student safety and behavior, helping with boarding students, lead bus evacuations during emergencies, and stay up to date on school district policies. The transportation assistant is vital to ensuring that the bus driver provides a safe transportation service that complies with school district guidelines and gets each student to their destination. These positions are scheduled on permanent assignments (employer will be Century Temporary Services)
- These positions are currently available for responsible individuals that enjoy working with students and have an acceptable background and driving record. Previous pupil management a plus!
Compensation & Benefits: - $12/hour
- 20-hour work week
Available Positions: - Approx. 4/5-hour daily split shifts (2/2.5 hours AM and 2/2.5 hours PM)
- MUST be reliable, and capable of working a partially flexible schedule
General Responsibilities: - Responsible for the safe and reliable transportation of students; including all duties connected to managing students on a school bus per all applicable client district policies & state/federal laws
- Adhere to all school district rules, regulations and policies
- Follow all directives from school district staff while on-duty
- Ability to manage and maintain all students on the bus in a calm and safe manner
- Reports any maintenance problems to Maintenance in accordance with district procedure and does not operate an unsafe vehicle.
- Reports to duty on time and maintains route on time but in a safe manner
- Physically assists passengers in evacuation of the vehicle in case of emergency
- Immediately reports any accident or incident per Company/District policy
- Exercises student and/or passenger management per Company/District policy
- Informs all appropriate personnel of problems/procedures
- Keeps the interior of the assigned vehicle clean and presentable
- Present a neat and professional personal appearance at all times
- Completes all required paperwork (including daily count sheets, etc.) and submits to the appropriate authority in a timely manner
- Maintains a cooperative attitude with parents, students, other staff members, fellow employees, supervisors, customers, and passengers while always promoting company goodwill
- Safely and efficiently utilizes vehicle equipment, including radios and emergency equipment
- Actively limit distracted driving habits
- May assist in training other team members
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements: - Undergo pre-employment and random drug testing per company policy
- Must pass State and FBI Criminal Background Check per MDE regulations and Client District policies
- Ability to pass physical requirements
- Ability to take and pass Continuing Education Class
- Ability to tolerate stressful situations
- Able to understand and have empathy for children and persons with disability
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work outside in various climates and weather conditions
- Compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, district, and contract specific requirements.
Basic Qualifications: - Eligible to work in the U.S
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Consent to a drug test, motor vehicles and background check
- Demonstrate strong communication skills
- Proficient in English (sufficient enough to read road signs and communicate with personnel)

- Proven track record of reliability
- Prior professional student management experience
- Excellent attention to detail with skill set to problem solve independently
- Self-motivated and able to work in a self-directed environment with an upbeat attitude
- Ability to work with a team in a fast paced, ever changing environment
