  •   Qualifications:
    1. Hold a Master’s degree from an accredited athletic training program in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Kinesiology/Exercise Science, or a related field;
    2. Maintain CPR/AED Certification: Possess current CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) certifications, which are essential for emergency response.
    3. Maintain Athletic Training Certification
    4. Experience working in educational settings, such as teaching, coaching, or mentoring;
    5. Prior involvement in organizing and leading extracurricular activities, student clubs, or athletic programs;
    6. Certifications in athletic coaching, leadership, or extracurricular program management;
    7. Training in conflict resolution, student mentorship, and team building to foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere;
    8. Experience with event planning, budgeting, and logistical coordination;
    9. Proficiency with digital tools for scheduling, record-keeping, and communication;
    10. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, parents, and community partners;
    11. Experience in fostering community relationships and supporting collaborative projects.
    12. Ongoing continuing education and possibly specialized training (e.g., in concussion management or sports safety); 
    13. Membership in professional organizations such as the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).

     Job Goal:
    Supports and enriches the student experience by leading, organizing, and managing an extracurricular activity. This position has the primary responsibility for collaborating with athletic programs. The role requires collaboration with school administrators, coaches, full time athletic trainers, teachers, and community partners. Provide training to student-athletes to promote strength & conditioning; ensure safety measures while training, and provide emergency treatment in case of injury during sporting events and activities.
     
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Provide athletic training services at practices and home events to include weekday, evening, and weekend events
    2. Support middle school athletic programs/coaches with injury knowledge, training, and injury care
    3. Provide care for injuries to physically active individuals under physician direction, including emergency care, prevention programs, assessment, and rehabilitation
    4. Maintain treatment protocols, prepare and implement emergency action plans with annual review
    5. Serve as liaison between medical professionals, athletic trainers, school staff, athletes, and parents
    6. Keep and file accurate injury and treatment records within HIPAA/FERPA regulations
    7. Manage pre-participation physicals and track athlete eligibility status
    8. Schedule and facilitate preparticipation sports physical events
    9. Communicate with athletic trainers, coaches and athletic director about injured athletes' status and return-to-play recommendations
    10. Order supplies for training rooms within budget guidelines and maintain inventory
    11.  Assist with weight room maintenance, staffing, and provide instruction on proper equipment use
    12. Develop tailored workout programs for teams and individuals
    13. Provide nutritional resources and guidance on permissible supplements
    14. Partner with strength and conditioning coaches to grow the program
    15. Design sport-specific conditioning programs to reduce injuries
    16.  Implement rehabilitation programs for injured athletes 
    17. Require clearance for injured athletes before return to play
    18. Equip teams with appropriate medical equipment and supplies
    19. Assist in selection and fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads, and braces
    20. Monitor environmental risks to maintain safe playing conditions to include weather and lightning
    21. Share relevant athletic training literature with coaching staff
    22. Perform other duties as assigned

    SALARY:
    Athletic Trainer is paid on the Certified Staff Salary Schedule
