About the Position:
We are seeking a dynamic and engaging music teacher to inspire and empower students in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade to explore the world of music. The successful candidate will develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with Ohio's Music Standards, catering to the diverse needs and learning styles of students across various age groups.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate music lessons that adhere to Ohio's Music Standards across the K-6 grade span. These standards cover areas like music literacy, performance, creation, and historical and cultural context.
Utilize a variety of musical elements, instruments, and teaching methods to foster a love of music, develop musical skills, and create a positive and engaging learning environment.
Differentiate instruction to cater to diverse learners and learning styles, ensuring all students have opportunities to participate, succeed, and appreciate music.
Assess student progress through various methods, including formative and summative assessments, and provide constructive feedback to help students improve and achieve the learning goals set forth by the Ohio standards.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages exploration, experimentation, collaboration, and appreciation for various musical genres and cultures.
Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously improve teaching skills and knowledge, specifically focusing on staying current with new trends and best practices in music education.
Assist with school-wide events and activities as assigned.
Maintain accurate and complete student records.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
Valid Ohio Teaching License in Music (or the ability to obtain one).
Minimum of two years of successful teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level (preferred).
Strong understanding of Ohio's Music Standards and their application across different age groups.
Ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans that promote musical engagement and fulfill the Ohio standards.
Proficiency in playing various musical instruments and basic conducting skills (preferred).
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Passion for music education and a passion for inspiring young minds to appreciate and create music.
