East Cleveland City School District is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic ESports Coach to lead our ESports curriculum for middle school students. This role combines classroom instruction with hands-on coaching, teaching students both the gameplay skills and broader concepts such as teamwork, digital literacy, and career opportunities in the ESports industry. The ESports Coach will develop and deliver a curriculum that engages students in learning, promotes academic and personal growth, and prepares students for potential future careers in the rapidly growing E-Sports field.
Curriculum Development & Instruction: Develop and deliver a curriculum covering ESports fundamentals, gameplay strategies, sportsmanship, and the professional landscape of E-Sports.
Technical Skill-Building: Teach students core gameplay mechanics, game-specific strategies, teamwork, and communication skills in popular ESports titles (e.g., Rocket League, League of Legends, Valorant).
Digital Citizenship & Wellness: Educate students on responsible gaming, digital citizenship, online behavior, and balanced screen time, promoting healthy gaming habits.
Career Pathways & Industry Insight: Introduce students to various career paths within the E-Sports and gaming industries, such as game design, streaming, content creation, event management, and more.
Student Team & League Management: Form and coach school ESports teams, organizing and supervising practices, scrimmages, and tournament participation, ensuring compliance with league rules and guidelines.
Event Planning & Community Engagement: Coordinate school-based ESports events, exhibitions, and tournaments, encouraging school and community involvement.
Student Evaluation & Growth: Assess student progress in gaming skills, teamwork, and personal growth; provide constructive feedback and development plans to support individual growth.
Technology & Equipment Oversight: Collaborate with the school’s IT department to ensure that gaming equipment, network connections, and software are functional and optimized for student use.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, Digital Media, or a related field.
Experience: Prior experience in E-Sports, coaching, or teaching, ideally with experience in curriculum development for students in grades 6-12.
ESports Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of ESports titles, gaming strategies, team dynamics, and league standards.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Ability to connect with students, foster a positive learning environment, and engage with parents and colleagues.
Organizational Skills: Effective in lesson planning, scheduling practices, coordinating events, and maintaining communication with parents and school administration.
