    Required Qualifications:
     
    1. Minimum of a Associates Degree or its equivalent.
    2. Be able to type a minimum of 50 words per minute with accuracy.
    3. Be able to speak, read, and write effectively.
    4. At least three years of successful experience in the secretarial / clerical field.
    5. Be able to fulfill responsibilities with limited direct supervision.
    6. Experience or educational background in business or office education, particularly bookkeeping, accounting, office procedures, and record keeping.
    7. Be able to take some initiative in identifying tasks for the efficient operation of one’s assignment.
     
    Preferred Qualifications:
     
    1. Advanced training and coursework at a college or business school.
    2. Ability to work well with others.
    3. Ability to take direction from others.
    4. Ability to perform without constant supervision.
    5. Ability to make accurate decisions and use good judgment.
    6. Ability to conduct in-service training of others.
    7. Ability to exercise organizational skills.
     
    General Description / Specific Performance Indicators
     
    1. Possess and demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities in the performance of secretarial / clerical tasks.
      1. Demonstrate good knowledge of business office procedures and practices.
      2. Demonstrate keyboard/typing skills at approved rates for the position.
     
    1. Plan and prepare for assignments to ensure effective and efficient completion.
      1. Confer with administrator to receive regular and special assignments.
      2. Prioritize and schedule regular and special assignments to ensure efficient operation and timely completion.
     
    1. Perform all assigned secretarial / clerical skills related to specific job assignment.
      1. Prepare and maintain records.
      2. Research computer records.
      3. Receive and respond to telephone inquiries.
      4. Compile and type a variety of materials.
      5. Enter and retrieve data from computer or terminal according to prescribed procedures; maintain files as required by regulations.
      6. Operate a variety of office equipment including computer printers, typewriter, personal computer, or terminal, and related equipment.
     
    1. Participate in training and staff development activities
      1. Attend required in-services.
      2. Maintain clerical and computer technology utilization skills through attendance at training sessions as appropriate.
     
    1. Demonstrate human relations and communication skills.
      1. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills including clarity, concision, and pleasant manner in phone conversations.
      2. Perform office receptionist tasks in an efficient, professional, and pleasant manner.
      3. Possess excellent interpersonal relations skills and demonstrate awareness of and compliance with the division’s human relations policies and regulations.
     
    1. Perform routine supervision assignments and training tasks as assigned.
      1. Assign tasks to student assistants as assigned.
     
    1. Demonstrate possession of the physical and mental attributes required to perform all essential functions.
      1. Sufficient dexterity and motor skills to operate typewriter and/or computer keyboard at approved rate of speed and perform routine maintenance on office equipment including copiers.
      2. Possession of mental abilities required to read, interpret, and follow written and oral instructions, and carry out all required and assigned tasks listed above or on the active class specification.
     
    1. Assume related responsibilities as required by the administrator
      1. Perform related tasks which may not be specifically listed but which are necessary to perform essential functions.
      2. Adhere to rules and regulations.
