PURPOSE: Deliver effective educational programs for students with disabilities as defined by special education criteria, ensuring they benefit from tailored instruction beyond the regular classroom. This role involves supporting students in mastering subject matter and skills while fostering their academic and social-emotional growth.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- ?Case Management of the IEPs on Resource Caseload
- Teach assigned resource and co-taught/instructional classes in designated locations and at scheduled times.
- Plan instruction to meet individual student needs, interests, and abilities aligned with core targets.
- Use varied instructional techniques and media appropriate for students’ needs and capabilities.
- Create a conducive learning environment appropriate to students’ development levels and interests.
- Develop and maintain reasonable behavior expectations and classroom order.
- Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals with clear objectives.
- Communicate learning objectives to students effectively.
- Regularly assess student progress and provide required reports.
- Collect, report, and share data related to IEP goals and behavior intervention plans regularly.
- Develop, update, and manage IEPs, including scheduling and chairing IEP meetings.
- Provide required paperwork to the Lead Teacher, Dean, Principal or Student Services Administration.
- Support classroom teachers with materials, strategies, and program modifications.
- Instruct special education students in individual or small group settings.
- Work cooperatively with staff to identify, educate, and support students with specialized needs.
- Maintain constructive communication with colleagues, parents, and administrators.
- Serve as a resource for teachers, aiding in problem identification and instructional strategies.
- Assist students with daily living activities, including personal hygiene tasks such as hand and face washing, diapering, toileting, and changing clothing as needed.
- Collaborate with staff to develop and implement Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Monitor and assist during emergencies involving aggressive or uncontrolled behavior of identified students, following approved Crisis Preventive Intervention (CPI) procedures. Provide input as needed after behavioral incidents by completing the necessary paperwork. Additionally, report on student performance and behavior to help students achieve their personal best.
- Collaborate with staff to teach students replacement behaviors and coping strategies.
- Provide coaching for staff regarding general behavior strategies and interventions.
- Provide ongoing coaching and problem-solving for individual students.
- Assist with the development and implementation of data collection tools.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records as required by law and policy.
- Implement all meetings and paperwork within compliance guidelines.
- Ensure distribution of finalized IEP copies to staff and parents.
- Attend staff meetings, in-service programs, and serve on committees.
- Strive to improve professional competence through workshops, reading, and collaboration.
- Participate in and lead referral team processes.
- Lead collaborative problem-solve for students’ needs with families and school team.
- Support Board of Education policies and maintain a professional relationship with colleagues.
- Work collaboratively in alignment with District 41 programming and demonstrate a cooperative work spirit.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the administrator.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 182 Days. Salary to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Building Principal, Dean, and/or Student Services Administration in accordance with provisions of Board policy.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear, with frequent walking and occasional standing, reaching, and other physical activities. Responsibilities include prolonged physical tasks such as stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, pulling, pushing, twisting, lifting, and carrying. The role involves moving equipment, furniture, and materials; supporting students with toileting needs; assisting non-ambulatory students; and occasionally performing heavy lifting (50 pounds or more), positioning students, and applying de-escalation or physical restraint techniques. Additional tasks include sitting on the floor, reaching overhead, and handling adaptive or classroom equipment.
Essential sensory abilities include close vision for reading, distance and peripheral vision, focus adjustment, and hearing speech in various environments, including classrooms, outdoors, and over the phone. Clear, audible speech is required for effective communication.

Duties are typically performed in a school or classroom environment, with occasional responsibilities during field trips. The work environment noise level ranges from moderate to loud. Tasks are primarily indoors, with some outdoor activities.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary Schedule: 2024-2025 Salary Schedule
Payroll Schedule: Distributed over 26 periods, every other Friday
