POSITION STATEMENT
Benet Academy, an independent Catholic, college preparatory high school for young men and women in the Benedictine tradition, seeks excellent candidates for the role of Spanish teacher. Candidates should be growth-oriented teachers who are confident in their capacity to create and deliver a dynamic, engaging, and challenging curriculum to high school students. In addition to their teaching assignments, all faculty are expected to contribute to the life of the school community through coaching and/or moderating student activities. The preferred candidate is enthusiastic about the Spanish language with a degree in a related field of study.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an academic and Catholic learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential in the area of concentration.
Essential Functions - Advance the Catholic mission and Benedictine tradition of Benet Academy in all professional duties.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects following curriculum guidelines.
- Engage with a variety of instructional materials to facilitate active learning experiences utilizing various teaching techniques.
- Evaluate student progress in courses and communicate appropriate feedback.
- Provide appropriate support and opportunities before, throughout, or after the school day.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Understand the developmental needs of students and how they learn best.
- Demonstrate and direct experience using a wide range of instructional technology tools.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
- Utilize strong communication skills with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators that leads to academic growth.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and the administration to demonstrate professional growth.
- Possess a willingness to recruit and retain students.
- Perform supervisory duties and other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities other than stated above in Essential Functions.
Work Environment The work environment is in a school with expectations from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Position Type/Hours of Work This is a Full-Time, Exempt Agreement position. Agreements are offered for one-year periods. (A "contractual year" is understood to mean an approximate 12-month period coinciding with the beginning of school activities in August and ending August 31 of the following calendar year.)
Faculty members should be in attendance the entire school day and should arrive by 7:30 a.m. or earlier (to assist students) and depart after 3:00 p.m. This also includes those teachers who have unassigned first or ninth period.
Compensation/Benefits Base Salary at 0 years’ experience: $56,336
This is a benefits eligible position
Travel Throughout the school year and during the summer months, there may be opportunities for travel tours, field trips, and off-campus overnight events. Although some of these may be school sponsored, the Academy recognizes that the students and the faculty may choose to participate in non-school sponsored educational travel tours and field trips.
