    Position Title: Supervisor of Maintenance

    Location: DeSoto Parish School Board, Mansfield, LA


    Overview:  DeSoto Parish School Board is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Supervisor of Maintenance to lead, oversee, and supervise the DPSB maintenance team. This role is responsible for managing maintenance, custodial, and grounds personnel, ensuring efficient operations through scheduling, training, and task prioritization. The supervisor will oversee facility upkeep, including routine and preventive maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards across district facilities. They will also manage grounds services, work orders, budgets, and procurement, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Additionally, the supervisor will be responsible for approving the purchase of equipment and supplies and coordinating with maintenance staff and contract companies on equipment installation and upkeep. They will respond to emergencies such as equipment failures, weather-related damage, and accidents, taking swift action to minimize disruptions. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of building systems, and a hands-on approach to maintenance operations while serving as a key liaison between the facilities department and school administrators.

    Minimum Qualifications:

     
    • Bachelor's degree (Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Construction Management, or other related field preferred)
    • Experience in maintenance of equipment and/or buildings with schools and/or the district
    • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
    • Additional criteria established by the DeSoto Parish School Board
     

    Key Responsibilities:

     
    • Supervise and lead a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations of all campuses and administrative building
    • Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules, ensuring minimal disruption to operation of our schools
    • Reviews requisitions, purchase orders and bids received for maintenance work and participates in contractor selection
    • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and building systems to identify and address issues before they become critical
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
    • Inspect work sites to ensure quality completion and address delays.
    • Establish and monitor cleanliness and maintenance programs for district facilities.
    • Periodically review each facility for cleanliness and make improvement recommendations.
    • Manage inventory and ordering of maintenance supplies and equipment
    • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards, conducting regular safety training and assessments for the team
    • Develop and implement maintenance procedures and best practices to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
    • Prepare and maintain maintenance records, including reports on equipment status, work orders, and expiration dates
    • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and repair services
    • Respond promptly to emergency situations and initiate action to resolve problems.
    • Monitor and control departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations
    • Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of maintenance staff
     

    Compensation:
    Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications, per the DeSoto Parish School Board salary schedule.
