Reports To: District Behavior Specialist
Position Summary/Purpose: The District Behavior Assistant supports the District Behavior Specialist in providing district-wide positive behavioral instructional support to school leaders and staff. This role assists in empowering educators and social workers with the tools and expertise to identify students in crisis and implement targeted interventions. The District Behavior Assistant will contribute to a consistent and comprehensive support system across all school levels and the district, addressing student wellness and promoting supportive learning environments. This position also supports the District Behavior Specialist in providing crisis intervention and individual/group intervention services for students, school personnel, and community/family. Position Type: Full Time, 10 months Starting Rate: $20.25 Based on experience

Role and Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
Professional Development Support: Assists in the preparation of training materials and workshops on positive behavior management strategies, including classroom organization, effective communication, behavior intervention techniques, and de-escalation. Helps coordinate logistics for training sessions for classroom teachers, special area teachers, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, service providers, lunch/recess monitors, bus drivers, and support staff.
Individualized Support Assistance: Assists the District Behavior Specialist in partnering with teachers to improve classroom management by observing classroom dynamics, collecting data, and providing support as directed. Helps to organize and track data related to classroom observations and teacher support.
Classroom Management Plan Support: Collaborates with teachers, under the guidance of the District Behavior Specialist, to support the implementation of classroom management and behavior plans.
Modeling Strategies Support: Supports the District Behavior Specialist in demonstrating effective behavior management techniques in the classroom. Helps to schedule and coordinate classroom modeling sessions.
Data Collection and Analysis Support: Assists teachers and the District Behavior Specialist in collecting and analyzing data on student behavior to identify patterns, triggers, and progress towards behavior goals. Enters and organizes data related to student behavior. Supports the District Behavior Specialist in the analysis of Rush SEL web data.
Collaboration with Other Professionals Support: Supports the District Behavior Specialist in collaborating with administrators, social workers, psychologists, BCBA, and special education teachers to develop comprehensive support plans. Helps to schedule and organize meetings, such as PLCs, SIT meetings, and faculty meetings. Prepares materials for meetings.
Building a Positive School Culture Support: Assists the District Behavior Specialist in initiatives that foster a positive and supportive school culture, such as school-wide behavior expectations, recognition programs, and community-building activities. Helps to coordinate and organize events and programs that support a positive school culture; including professional development for staff and programs for families.
Clerical and Administrative Support: Provides clerical and administrative support to the District Behavior Specialist, including scheduling, filing, and preparing reports. Maintains accurate and confidential records. Manages communication, including emails and phone calls.
Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned by the District Behavior Specialist.
Qualifications: - Associate's degree in education, social work, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Registered Behavior Technician certification.
- Experience working with students with behavioral challenges preferred.
- Strong understanding of positive behavior management strategies and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other staff.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a school setting.
- Training in crisis intervention.
- As a multi-language district, we always prefer staff who are bilingual but it is not required for this position
Physical Demands: mobility within the instructional area and throughout the school facility, visual acuity close/distance/depth perception, hearing to receive information, verbal to exchange information. Physical demands often include walking, sitting, bending, twisting, stooping, reaching forward, lifting up to 25 pounds, pushing and pulling.
Environmental Conditions: indoor climate-controlled office environment
