    Job Title:  CustodianSub-Custodian, Full Time, Part Time Custodian
    FT & PT 5 days per wk, 12 months

     

    Department/Group: Buildings & Grounds/Custodians

    Position Summary/Purpose: Provide a clean and safe physical environment including all areas within the building and the grounds, which include entrances, walkways, parking areas and other outdoor school property

    Starting Salary: $21.50 (Sub Custodian) based on experience

    Role and Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions:

     
    • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
    • Service, clean, and supply restrooms
    • Gather and empty trash
    • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
    • Follow procedures for the use of cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
    • Mix water and cleaning agents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications
    • Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
    • Notify supervisors concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
    • Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties 
    • Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors using approved cleaners/equipment. 
    • Steam clean or shampoo carpets
    • Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events or meetings 
    • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
    • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment
    • Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks/dollies. 
    • Maintain clean grounds outside of building
    • Complete snow removal as required
    • Write up work orders as needed using District work-order program (currently “School Dude”)
    • Change lamps and lighting ballasts as needed
    • Report on I.P.M. issues
    • Raise and lower US flag as assigned
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrators, maintenance supervisor, and/or district administrators.  Building administrators may have specific tasks to be performed on regular basis
    • Perform other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position

    Working conditions / Environment:

     

    Physical Demands: walk, bend, twist at neck and trunk, squat, stoop reach above head, reach forward, climb in and out of vehicles, climb stairs, climb and maintain balance on ladder, lift up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead, lift up to 50 pounds floor to waist, push/pull items over 90 pounds on wheels over carpeted, tiled, concrete, paved, dirt or other outdoor surfaces, carry up to 50 pounds up to 10 feet, work on one’s feet (standing/walking) for up to 4 hours with a single 15 minute break, visual acuity close/distant/depth perception, hearing to receive information, verbal to exchange information 

     

    Environmental Conditions: indoor climate-controlled setting (for example: classroom, hallways, cafeteria, office, auditorium, gym, washroom), transportation vehicles, and outdoors throughout the year

     

    Examples of Equipment/Supplies Used to Perform Tasks: pliers, screwdrivers, hand-trucks, furniture dollies, floor polishers/buffers/extractors, ladders, vacuums, floor mops (wet and dry)

     

    Uniforms provided by the District are required to be worn daily.
    Vacation during the summer break is limited to two (2) weeks
